RCT Discussion / OpenRCT: advantages and disadvantages

are we gonna have our pinkies in the air and call things "not truly ncso" because the person in question used full tile/invisible paths? sounds like just the next installment in the LL purity arguments

Let me rephrase what was said by Gymnasiast on reddit: does it install/require another `.dat`? It is custom scenery to us and won't be considered. Does it not? It's fine.

I recommend Jonny93 och MCI's Inselfieber. NCSO at its finest, if you ask me.

The guy specifically asked for NCSO that wouldn't require the installation of additional .dat files due to the reasons explained in his post. How is that being how you describe it?

    Seconded, such a great park!

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but I recommend MCI's Let's Build a ThemePark. No custom objects used.

Unfortunately, a number of NE parks like to build right up to the edge. It's fine for NE, but there are a lot of people who whine about seeing black edges in their title sequence. The only park that was suggested that I can see working out is Inselfieber, because the majority of the park is located closer to the center of the map. Some of the suggested parks, like Banana Valley, have been used in previous title sequences. I have contacted MCI about the use of the park in the title sequence.

    Try Euroscape then.

I'd also love to see Inselfieber in there.

    These are great too:

And I'm also gonna go ahead and suggest my park, Palisade Gardens - http://www.nedesigns...lisade-gardens/

Because it has a simple, classic RCT aesthetic.

What is the policy for use of parks that are published to NE? I don't know if MCI will reply, and if I see other parks that work, there probably won't be enough time for them to reply. I don't want to upset anyone if they don't give their permission. Is there a kind of unspoken agreement about that kind of thing?

If the park has been released to the public, then I would say it's fair game to use. Maybe a small watermark or something saying the builder during the intro credits? or just some way of recognising the builder in another menu would be sufficient?

EDIT: for park suggestions, shout-out to Bumbly Bazaar: http://www.nedesigns.../bumbly-bazaar/

For credit in the 0.0.3 title sequence, the parks were saved under the park maker's username ("poke.sv6" "faas.sv6" "mci.sv6" etc.). I've already begun doing this for the current sequence.

It would be neat if there was text that could be displayed in the lower-right of the screen during title sequences, for map credits or storytelling or something. 0.0.6, maybe.

For anyone here that hasn't already seen this: OpenRCT2 is now fully independent of vanilla code. If you are on a 64 bit machine, you can now upgrade to the 64 bit version and get rid of the 32 bit dependencies.

  • Liampie%s's Photo
What does that mean? Are savegames made with Open RCT2-incompatible now?

No, the save format hasn't changed, it's just that OpenRCT2 no longer contains any vanilla code at all. That's a major milestone. The immediate consequence of this is that the game can be built for any (little endian) architecture without anything missing.

Updated tile inspector (https://github.com/O...nRCT2/pull/4414) is also merged now.

So cool! Just checked it out, it works super simple and smooth! That's going to come in really handy for hacking!!! Another step toward the elimination of using MOM.

<3 OpenRCT has everything now! I love it, so thankful for all the effort put into this project, it's so fantastic to see and makes RCT an absolute pleasure to play.
