Vote goes to Asteroid though, worst screen thumbnail, best park by far.

This is actually pretty true. Maybe we could include a category for screens in the awards? Most effective / prettiest teasing image.

Also, I think I'm missing the working telescope. Is it the motion simulator with the ferris wheel? If so, what's so great about that?

  • Version1%s's Photo

In what capacity will the result be decided by the percentages? Because JimmyLaessig giving the only vote to the Fantasy Park against Asteroid Fields could be a pretty scumbagy move.

  • trav%s's Photo

I couldn't get into Asteroid Fields as much as everyone else. It was still a very good park, and the ideas were amazing, but it just didn't inspire me as much as the other parks. I wish I had a better reason than that, but I just didn't feel as excited viewing it in game as I did the other two. Still, very solid 80%.

ManLabs, you were so close. But, between the monorail station and the hugely unnecessary castle, it just killed any atmosphere you had going in the park. Unfortunately, it seems to be a symptom of a certain builder who just seems to go over the top with detailing and deco blocks, and for me it just sucks the atmosphere out of everything. The Parisian architecture was fantastic. The Space area at the back was my favourite area of all three parks. So close, but still a fantastic showing. 85%

Hurricanes will be getting my vote. It looks like DAW v2, and it's got nothing new or incredibly amazing. I'm also not one to normally vote for the realistic park over semi or even fantasy, but it's just so unbelievably clean and well built that it's impossible to not be impressed. I couldn't find a single block that looked like it hadn't been strategically thought out, and everything just meshed together to create a fun, clean, realistic atmosphere. Congrats Canes, 90%.

That's a movie everyone should watch, by the way. The General.

My reviews are coming before the poll deadline, by the way! I've got some nice things to say, and some less nice things. But mostly nice, because we have three and a half nice parks here.

    Heaven's Atlas

Sideways Ferris Wheel and Freefall are such a good idea and well executed too! Love all the sideways buildings, it's great to see creativity like this is still going on! I've always wondered if something like this was possible.

Space Pinball is AWESOME!! Loved the concept and loved the execution, I could watch this all day.

The landscaping is great, the asteroids look very beautiful and well sculpted.

The power station is beautiful and so effective for such a simple hack!

Zippy zoppy Zruum is a great ride, it's fun watching the little UFOs racing.

Warp Portal is well done as well, great idea again!

I didn't like the use of flying trains. They didn't fit with the theme, who uses steam powered trains in space??

    Love the crashed UFO!

The architecture wasn't my cup of tea, too gaudy and not interesting enough.

Great to see a heartline coaster. The colors here worked well too! :p

Loved all the parked ships at the entry too.

THe floating dot steps are great!

"View train to have a look" is AWESOME!! Amazing idea for the working telescope and so well executed, so creative and innovative! Absolutely astounding.

Didn't particularly care for the two main coasters - invert and yellow launched one. Not very interesting in comparison to the other rides in the park and the layouts, while not bad, also didn't inspire much for me. However I do like Whoopsyl Slyzkof! Very cool to try to follow all the broken  tracks and that looping element is top notch.

    ______
    Robber Barons

The landscaping is beautiful. Love the colors and the look of the area.

The castle is really beautiful. Great colors - blue maroon and gold with the black too, nice choices.
I didn't get the purple sea, would love to see what this could've been.

The coaster was interesting to watch.
    ________

    Hurricanes

Silly Symphony Swings is BEAUTIFULLY executed. Amazing job here, the entire thing is impeccable. Probably the most beautiful flat ride I have ever seen. The curved structure and queue around it is so clean.

Screaming was beautiful too, the supports are crazy.

World of color terraces are so well done. Beautiful shapes.

The Ferris Wheel was well constructed but I didn't like that it was black, it's super imposing and contrasts so much with the rest of the peaceful serene park.

Diagonal Steps - so well done. I will have to copy the way you did this. :D

The architecture is impeccable as expected from _________. I really wish you would apply your skill to something more creative though, I feel like I've seen these buildings so many times already, it's more a variation on a generic theme instead of engaging creativity and imagination at this point.
    ________

    Manual Laborers

Loved Spark Gap coaster! Great idea and well executed. Though I'm not sure about the tan for the towers...

The castle in the middle... a little haphazard and blocked out a lot of the surrounding areas. Too large.

The name Disney Punk is bad. Just bad. I'm sure you could've come up with a much better name than that...

The sculptures around the castle were great! Loved all the creativity  in how you made these. The landscaping was already really well done.

Steam chaser station... I'm crying at how beautiful it is. Great space-themed architecture!

Not fond of how the space part of the park blended in with the other parts. Disney usually keeps their themes quite separate and distinct right? The rocks intruding in on the tomorrowland-esque section looked strange, and the bridge across the river into that area was wooden with no signs, no arches, etc. Poor planning in this case.

The architecture was nice all around. The scale of some of these buildings were really large however. I think it makes sense you were trying to go for the Disney Sea style layout, so I won't fault you for that. But it does make the whole thing seem a lot more squished together than it should be.

    _________

Overall impressions: Three great parks, and one beginning of a potentially great park. Paradise Pier is definitely the most clean, beautiful and refined of the three, Asteroid Fields is definitely the most innovative, creative, and engaging of the three, and Disney Punk was my least favorite of the three.

Both Paradise Pier and Asteroid Fields made me stop and say "wow" multiple times - In Paradise Pier, it was the Screaming Swing Flat, the World of Color area, and California Screaming itself. For Asteroid Fields, it was the tilted rides, the landscaping of the asteroids, the pinball ride and the working telescope (probably the BEST IDEA EVER in an RCT park. Ever.)

I spent the most time exploring Asteroid Fields because there was so much to see - paths, rides, peeps, floating objects, moving trains, flying spaceships, etc. I spent the least time in Paradise Pier because it was just very very pretty but there wasn't much to engage with or follow. Disney Punk was in between and had some great moments but overall lacked the refinement of Paradise Pier and lacked the innovation / creativity of Asteroid Fields.

My vote will come after spending some more time with the parks. This is a tough decision...

I don't have any access to RCT in the voting period, but I did watch the review of MCI and the other German guy whose name I forgot, sorry, but thanks for the review, was a fun watch! I did come to a first opinion:

Barrons: Shame the park is so unfinished, especially with the prolonged deadline and the new rules. Intriguing coaster, though. Not sure if the empty plains would have worked when the park would have been finished.

Canes: I've always loved Paradise Pier, although I've never been there in real life. Is this an exact remake of the area or has there been rides added? I'm glad someone has built it in the game, and especially when it's this well done. There are some downsides to the park though, which I will start with. First off, I'm not sure the finals of H2H is the proper setting to come up with a recreation of a part of a theme park. I would have preferred an original complete theme park, but that's just a personal preference, I guess. Secondly, it has been mentioned some times before already, but the Ferris wheel is a real eyesore. I've never been a fan of those custom Ferris wheels, although I don't really think there are other ways around besides avoiding them. What was the main problem with this one was the color though. I think white would have been appropriate, although I could see it would mismatch with California Screamin'. Another thing that I don't really like was that the park had a lot of similarities with DAW, but I can see where that is coming from. Last point I didn't like was the layout of California Screamin'. The loop looked gorgeous and I really liked the diagonal launch and surrounding boardwalk. But the coaster really lacked #datflow. Not sure what the real layout looks like, but this RCT layout has too many straight pieces and awkwardly wide turns and the pacing seems a bit off. The support work looks insane. Respect to the person who had the patience to pull that off! Lots of the buildings look incredible as well, especially that haunted house (?). Really excited to explore this park myself.

ManLabs: In the review, I could not see that much of the park but some things came up in my mind. Personally, I'm a bit bored with the steampunk theme. We've seen it too many times last years and they basically look all the same, so I was glad this park actually did not contain that much steampunk. I felt the park had an identity crisis, though. It seemed like ideas where missing to make a Disney park. All names felt random and, in particular, the park name itself. Thereby, the real Disney atmosphere is missing in my opinion. More peeps would have helped, I think, and maybe less dull coloring and more Disney references, off course. Each park section was really good on its own, but the themes combined did not make a proper Disney park to me. I think you guys would have been better off when you would have loosed the Disney franchise.

I will try to give a proper review once I'm back in Holland, as these parks really deserve it!

I have to say I really like this new way of the H2H final. Seems to fit a lot better in the present RCT community.

  • robbie92%s's Photo

Don't be sorry. Welcome to the right side of history.

  • Steve%s's Photo

Paradise Pier as a whole was pretty excellent. Mostly everyone has pointed out the bits I found impressive. The Silly Symphony swings and the World of Color terraces are some of the cleanest and most beautiful things the game has seen. California Screamin' was done well as it's ever been, and for everyone complaining about the straight pieces of track, well, that's pretty much how it is in real life from what I remember. I love how you included Mystic Manor but I feel like that corner of the park was the worst bit (and I say that loosely because it's still well done) mostly because it was messy like your Round 1 park. Same with the San Francisco houses. Overall though this is quality work.

Disney Punk didn't do it for me, really. There were some great bits like the corner with the garaged blimps and the crazy Coney Island coaster especially. However I felt the rest was rushed or messy and the architecture scale was incredibly large (it worked for some reason where the blimps are). The castle was done fairly well but it was mostly blocking things that I rather would have looked at. Not a bad park but probably would have truly shined if more time and love was put in because I get the impression the deadline wasn't kind to you dudes. Actually I'm just remember now that you used your extension so I am guessing I'm right :p Still, well done!

Barons...eh, I mean of course what's there is solid and if you had finished then holy shit, but this is not the case. Good work on still submitting, and I hope this gets done!

OK, got a second, so i'm going to review a park as i look at it. first up, for want of an actual reason, is Disneypunk.

OK, opening screen. honestly, not a huge fan of that building, the whole area is clean though, looks nice without being mind blowing. nice hot air balloon, and good use of path colours. not sure why the monorail has two different tracks, i think i definitely prefer the blue train track, looks far more steampunk. moving inwards, the warm path colour contrasts really well with the colder green glass, a great colour scheme. really nice architecture, and i LOVE that carousel.

continuing inwards, the castle dominates my vision. in a good way. it's massive, but not too big. i like it. the three different stone colours should annoy me, but it works in a weird way. although i'm really missing some windows, especially on the backside. some awesome glass windows could have finished this off really nicely, maybe there's a reason you didn't add any? great coaster, no idea how it has 9 excitement, that's massive. seems like it would be a really awesome disney coaster, forwards, backwards, inside, outside, can definitely see it. however, the name and theme are pretty weak. if it's a factory tour, then the castle is the factory? but then, it looks just like a castle? i don't get it. could have done with some different colours for the track, too.

the new york corner is interesting, i feel like i've seen it before, but different. really great architecture all round, lovely airships, i love seeing stuff like that rather than just characterless buildings. the coaster is nice enough, i didn't really get the switch from steel to wood and back again, but it would be cool i guess. everything feels cramped and squished, not necessarily in a bad way, but there is a lot of stuff in a small area. if i hadn't been told this was new york i'm not sure i would have gotten it, but it works.

onto the spacey spiral area. very interesting shout building a spiral coaster with those big bland towers, it's not bad though. the whole area feels more spread out and lifeless than the other areas, feels like it needs more stuff there. very clean though, nice architecture, and a coaster we don't see a lot of. not a huge amount to say about this little area, nice custom flat, but i didn't like it as much as the others.

now for the forgotten land volcano place, sorry can't remember the name in real life. this was small, but i really liked the atmosphere here. it blended really well with the side of the castle, and i loved the steel walkways next to the pool of water. i would have liked to see this area expanded at the expense of the previous area maybe?

overall an excellent park, i will come back and look at a lot more i'm sure. great work everyone. more reviews when i have time.
