The restroom issue is an accommodation one. Women can't really use urinals. Generally a women's restroom will have an additional sink as well. Although we're still running into issues of what people who "identify" as something other than their sex, and what they are and are not allowed to use, mostly based on who it's making feel uncomfortable.
What Choco is talking about is separate but equal. Under law the rights should all be the same, but if you have to call it something different if the couple isn't heterosexual, that opens up avenues for counties or states to not uphold it or find loopholes. At that point you might as well call them the same thing and legislate them the same way to simplify everything and make it easier to go after someone who is obstructing the law due to personal beliefs or feelings. Also calling it something different implies that they should be thought of separately, when really they shouldn't. If you want to think of marriage in different ways, separating the legal and "spiritual" definitions is fine. The particulars of the ceremony are generally a religious affair while the certificate itself is purely legal.

In Ancient Greece and Rome, sexuality wasn't even a thing. The sex wasn't based on gender but on the role of each person.
Erm... no. The closest thing to such a society would possible be the various Celtic tribes and other 'belligerent nations' as Aristotle put it. Even then, they were still extremely dimorphic.
Back on topic, considering the restrooms vs gay marriage debate... a bit of a false dichotomy. Marriage is an official government institution that carries various economic benefits. Trying to circumnavigate it would be in violation of disestablishment and that would be both downright foolish and contradictory to our constitution.

I was merely point out that that's an issue the U.S. is still addressing when it comes to the binary restroom categories, Dr_Dude. People are uncomfortable with the idea of transgendered people using restrooms with them as well. I'm not. Focus your aggression somewhere else.

dont ever refer to "biological sex" when talking about trans ppl, dont put the language we use in scare quotes

i think it might be better to go after people who genuinely mean you ill rather than people who accidentally step on your toes.
i can bet that ling is undoubtedly on your side at the core of your issue, dr dude.

im literally not
But you're not adding anything to the discussion either. Saying "fuck you" to a legitimate statement without adding anything substantial... I'd be pressed to say fuck you to you too. -

id legit rather someone say they hate trans ppl than have someone like ling try to sneakily misgender us and then hide behind "uh actualy i support yall why r u mad"
the "trans ppl have a different gender than their sex" semantic trick cis ppl employ is irrelevant to any discussion and exists purely to other us and bring our identities into question

Then explain that rather than attacking someone who was in all likelyhood trying their best to not step on any toes or offend anyone. Ling used the wrong words while trying to gracefully discuss the issue. That does not deserve hostility, but rather a helpful push in the right direction. I'm sure 90% of NE doesn't know the right way to talk about these issues. I don't even, and I've spent a good portion of the last 4 years trying to learn. Apologies if I've made any improper assumptions, regarding either your words or lings. -

No I didn't. Don't defend his bullshit. You were the one who brought it up Dr_Dude. You don't get to be offended over nothing and make me feel sorry for it. I didn't even say trans people had different genders than sexes. I said the idea of a trans person using a given bathroom can make people uncomfortable, and that's at the core of the issue I brought up to meet Liampie's analogue. No one is "misgendering" you. I personally don't really care how someone identifies - man, woman, gay, straight, Apache Attack Helicopter, whatever - but your biological sex is the basis of the categorical restroom system (which is apparently oppressive) humans have used for centuries.

You'd rather somebody openly say they hate trans people than tiptoe around pronouns because they're supportive and don't want to offend you? What a tragically self-deprecating view of life.

What is trans people?
Trans:
a prefix occurring in loanwords from Latin (transcend; transfix); on this model, used with themeanings “across,” “beyond,” “through,”“changing thoroughly,” “transverse,” incombination with elements of any origin:
People:
persons indefinitely or collectively.
Definitions are from Dictionary.com I guess Trans people refers to some sort of neologism meaning 'beyond people.' You know, like some sort of ubermensch that lies beyond the basic man and hisconcepts of good and evil just as man looks beyond apes. Nietzsche called for the beyond-man or trans people to proclaim meaning in the earth over outer-worldly Christianity. It is humanity's goal to be, after all, ubermenschlich and beyond our traditional strengths and weaknesses. Traditional God is dead.
Also Sprach Zarathustra.
