Eras of America
Concept:
What- two western parks against each other? It's really surprising to see so many similar themes this H2H: two small German family-orientated parks, Parks with Crystals/Magic playing a big part and now two western parks. Anyhow - not the freshest concept and also not the most original take on it. I mean how many times we've seen a GCI-style woody next to a western village on a flat landscape? Too many times I think. Also the farming idea doesn't really add that much to it.
Macro (Park Impression):
Unfinished design look unfortunately. It seems like a abondonded NE Design attempt instead of a H2H park to me, which is a shame. A proper concept or more will to take risks would have been good at least. I like the fact that it's part of a park instead of a whole park on its own, though. Would have been nice to show more context of it (park outskirts, glimpses of other areas,...)
Rides:
The woody was solid although I don't get the cover of the first drop. I see it's based on a real ride, but then again why do you base it so closely to the real one? Either more originality please or at least go full nerd and rebuild the whole thing Raptor-style! The transfer track wouldn't work like this IRL I think. Cannot say much more about the rides unfortunately.
Architecture:
The building facades are rather generic to me with exception of the hotel building which stood out the most IMO. The others were kinda samey. Same height. Same dimensions. They're basically shoe boxes with added windows and balconies that are not accessible (doors?). The train station was nice though. Loved the backside of it.
Micro (Details):
Not really much to say here. Hope you learn a little bit with H2H, but this didn't do much unfortunately.
The Wild West
Concept:
A Wild West Park? Not the most original thing in the universe, but never judge a book by its cover they say... Upon first glimpse it's not the typical minetrain or out and back-woody Western but it's not the Wild West gone-mad Slime Merdian stuff either. It's kinda underwhelming from a conceptual standpoint, but it's the execution again that shines through. Something in between Indy Jones and Bermuda IMO.
Macro (Park Impression):
The park looks kinda messy from the overview, at least there doesn't seem to be a clear structure tu it and the entrance kinda feels crammed into the corner. Some paths should have been wider to make it more clear where guests can reach all the areas of the park. The colors are really nice. Excelent landscaping with nice texture choices and the water adds some contrast as well. I love the barren parts on the edges, it kinda frames the park and gives it room to breathe.
Rides:
Bandito was a really nice terrain woody - we rarely see those unfortunately. That giant drop down to the canyon is spectecular and the terrain-hugging helices were also nice. The queue kinda felt short IMO and was a bit unspectecular. Either some kind of indoor preshow or more interaction with the ride or the architecture at the front would have been nice there, otherwise great exciting ride! Gunpowder Canyon was really unique and well done as well. The themed ride parts as well as the switchback were really cool, the layout was solid and had some nice interaction with the landscape. Didn't like the soft brakes in the end, and again the queue left a lot to be desired. The darkride was great as well, although a bit short. The layout near the pueblo village got a bit messy which made it hard to figure out where the entrances/exits to rides were (log flume, top spin and drop tower), could have used some cleaning up there but I think it was intentional. Loved Dead or Alive as well. I first didn't notice the Rapid ride at all and I didn't like it that much. Would have prefered a more realistic approach to the ride.
Architecture:
I really loved the unusual textures for RCT LL, especially the jailhouse or the bridge. Other buildings in the wester town were solid too, although sometimes the colors blended too much (windows vs. walls of the Salloon) and there was a bit too much variation in canopies/balconies which made it hard to differentiate between them. Stucking to 1-2 solutions throughout the park would have helped I think. Little Pueblo village was nice too but a little bit messy with all the height variation (also I'm not sure weither it is a Pueblo village or a mexican town instead - kinda strange mix right now).
Micro (Details):
The park was scattered with lovely details, my favs being the train robbery, the LL discussion at the campfire, the miracle medicine vendor, the DeLorean and the references to Red Dead Redemption. Really a lot to discover and kept my interest for a long time. Sad to see this park didn't got a proper matchup but it's an awesome little park and very nicely crafted! Thanks for that - surely my fav LL park this season so far.

Voting Closed
Manual Laborers beat the Hurricanes
Manual Laborers vote count: 20* (100.00%)
Hurricanes vote count: 0 (0.00%)
The Wild West was made by Cocoa (88%), Louis! (10%) and lightkeeper (2%).
Eras of America was made by G Force (50%) and Rofl (50%).
*Usually we check if all the voters have LL installed to make sure they've seen both parks, but since it won't affect the scores in this particular match that would be a very kafkaesque waste of time. -

Really sorry about the state of our park, we had tons of issues relating to it will builders and replacements etc. Hopefully we will be able to do the concept justice an release a finished version in the future, we were all really excited about it but as Kumba stated, had to release it like this for the good of the team.
Congrats to the Laborers for the great LL park, it was a joy to view and will definitely be a highlight of the contest. Sorry we couldn't give you guys a good match, but again, for the sake of the team this was the best decision.
If Darren and the other builders allow it I'd love to post a screen or two of the park before it was trimmed for the release, there was some great work that couldn't make this version.

Cocoa is really becoming one of the top dual-game players of the site. Two amazing parks by him so far this season!

I knew cocoa was involved, your LL is crazy good. This canes park reeks of fish, though. The 2 weakest builders combining to do nothing while the other 3 parks are >80% done by your top 4? No doubt week 5 will be the same story with xcoaster. Why even bother drafting a full team? -
Rofl Offline
Really sorry for our submission, like Russel said, we had tons of issiues with it. Darren had to release it like this for the good of the team.
Congrats to the Laborers! The Wild West was great to see.

Louis! Offline
So I just didn't have the time I wanted to spend on the park
I made the S&S coaster, did the sliding hack and built half of the woodie with cocoa doing the other half (he did the original layout and I changed it in places).
Lightkeeper did a little tiny bit here and there, Cocoa did the rest.

Had expected more Louis! in there, which is a good thing. Cocoa you're one of my favorite players ever.
I have to agree with Walto. Hurricanes. I understand you may have had trouble with replacements, but this doesn't feel like it's doing the contest much justice. That way, you could (technically) just play this contest with 3 people and draft 7 people just for a 1% share. I love the parks that you put out, but this feels a bit like a weak thing to do.

The park originally had another parkmaker on it who was leading the project. However that builder asked for his work to be removed when the decision was made to release this for week 4. Hence why there is so little built on this map. -

Holy Jesus ManLabs that was one of the coolest parks I've seen in a long long time. I enjoyed it so much that I would easily consider it to be in my top 3 of the season so far. So much fun to look at; I spent like an hour in game. Then again, I'm still fairly new to LL parks like this haha. Sorry for the late reply, I was only able to download it yesterday. -

So this match needs more reviews and I don't have LL so umm...
Era's or America.
The layout, not bad, looks very pretty like most GCI's do and fits the status quo of GCI's. A bit slow in the higher turns.
The architcture was rather boring, but then most wild west styles are now. Try and do more han just windows on walls. The ground floors were well done though. The backstages didnt exist but in the future I'd reccomend having them all connect (talking about the 3 by the farm) as if they share a single large floor.
Not CGA- no definatly is CGA haha.
Train station was nice, neat details.
Overall, a bit unfished.
