Great matchup, Hurricanes! I'm surprised to see you used all your big guns against us this round, but then again it's flattering!
Will post a long review of your park later.

I'm kinda dissapointed with the reception of our park. Sometimes I feel people don't take the time to dive in and explore the whole park. We really spent a lot of time and effort to make everything tie together.
The park was built with a lot of thought regarding natural growth (how it evolved from one corner to the other, how larger, noisy rides are shielded away, how they have those restrictions - I must've annoyed Turbin3 everytime I wanted a building to be lower ;) ), believable detailing (what could a park like this effort over time?),...
Also the village, all the staff, the readme and the park really heavily tie together and I'm not sure a lot of people got it. (There's no Handyman 1 in there - everyone has a backstory)
First we wanted to release 3 versions of the park (to see the progression from the restaurant to todays park (if you check the yeardates you'll notice the order of the park), but we had no more time unfortunately and it might have demanded too much from the viewer.

It was a risky move to make a very immersive, believable park that hasn't been done before in H2H instead of shoving architectural details down their throats, but I feel we might have demanded too much from some of the viewers or they just didn't care.
If there's interest I could make a small 'little things' to show a few things that you might have missed.

Thanks again to Turbin3 and Sssammy for enduring my pickyness throughout building, but I hope at least you two are happy with how it turned out ;)

There's interest, I want to see the little things compilation in case I missed any :D

But yes, I do think the point of our park was unfortunately lost by a lot of viewers.
  • Cocoa%s's Photo

I don't think the point was lost. I was sort of meh on the park but I still appreciate the thought and idea, I just didn't think it came out as well as it could have. A focus on strong architecture and detailing can bring a realistic park to life, as evidenced in the different responses to the baron's park and here. If you'd put all the thought into it just as you did and then built it really well the votes would be different, just something got lost in between the design and reality stage, which is a shame.

We decided against the dominant overdetailism-craze in architecture because of the believability.
Why would it make sense for a small park to build overdetailed buildings? There's simply no money for that.
That's why we decided against it. But maybe it's just me being fed-up with all the detail-imposter parks out there nowadays, although I appreciate the amount of time it takes, even though I don't see the point.

I do appreciate that, but I think you guys took it too far in the opposite direction. To the point where it no longer felt realistic because just by necessity in real life buildings are more detailed than how they felt in your park. anyway, votings over, you guys have got 2 more rounds, its not over yet :D (I think)

That's why I voted for your park! I'm not wowed by incredible architecture. You're park won if for me with your fun factor. I think plenty of players appreciated that about your park.

That being said, there could have been more reviews, myself included. I find if I take the time to review, I notice so much more that a park has to offer.

So did you not count my vote?

Review will follow when I'm on the train later.

Your park has literally more theming than the Holiday Park.

tim why was my vote not counted? the rules say that you may not vote for parks in the match your team participated in, but I am not a part of a team. my vote should count and it's bs if it isn't since I'm not part of a team

  • wheres_walto%s's Photo

This has been addressed already and the rule won't change now

5dave, love that attention to detailing in the style of realistic park making and storytelling. I wish we would have been able to see 3 versions, having the park as a timeline may have helped to sell the idea a bit more. However, I just found the park itself and in some ways the story to be a bit dis interesting, and sacrificing detailing and such things for the sake of realism is never good IMO.

I would love for you to show some of the little things, I've viewed the park probably a dozen times (in fact, I've looked at lotte twice, but I keep coming back to this one) and think I've noticed everything, but you are one of the best at hiding those things.

Because you were part of a team that was taking part in this round. The rule isn't a new one, it was implemented when team changes took place. It is to stop any bias/unfair voting. It isn't just you that is affected, there are several members that this applies to.

I don't mostly comment on these topics, except wich park I vote for, but just wanted to mention that I really liked The Village and the Park. I liked the scale, the little details and everything around it. Nin doing some protest speeches had a good laugh for me. But the littlest thing in a park can do it for me, and in this case it was the "Schmetterling", I know it is not hard to pull off, but still I really liked it.

Still would love to see some timeline versions off this lovely park.

Theming is not the same as details.

Just doesn't feel like a small park developed out of a restaurant in the ninties

Fisch, where is your review, I am waiting :p

Dave and Sammy, it was great to build with you! It was important, that Dave took the leading role with all his great ideas :-)
