I did exact same as above with Windows 8. Should work for anyone.

Here's what I did to get it to work on Windows 7 with the GOG version.

 

Install RCT Deluxe with the GOG set up

Extract the contents (all the files not the folder) into where GOG installed RCT (It should be in C Drive by default)

When prompt to replace the already existing files, select yes,

Run Setup 1 for US with run as admin. In the installation screen select Full installation. Afterwards don't launch the game at the end of the installation.

Run Setup 2 with the desired language as admin but this time don't select full installation. Instead leave it at minimum.

Download http://nedesigns.com...de/rctpatch.exe and run as admin. If it cannot locate where rct1 is move it to where the new rct1 is installed and that should be in the C Drive ->Program Files->Hasbro Interactive->RollerCoaster Tycoon.

Run the game through the Hasbro Interactive directory.

OMG yes it works. Thank you Otsdarva and Dirk Pitt! I think my problem earlier is full insallation and minimum. Ye it works fine with 4cars now

Can you tell us exactly what you're doing?

Are you installing the GOG version and then NOT touching it?
Then did you extract the RCT Awesome .rar file into the GOG RCT folder and running the setup from there? 

That's exactly what I did.

I'm running windows 8 if that could make a difference.

Does your folder look exactly like this?

If so, are you selecting the full install and not minimum and the American version?

2. Extract this .rar directly into your C | GOG Games | RCT Deluxe folder, every single thing. Do not extract it to your desktop, it won't work if you extract it to your desktop because the installation needs to be able to find your RCT folder and it can't from your desktop.
3. Run Setup1-US in admin mode, Select FULL installation
4. Run Setup2-US in admin mode, select MINIMUM installation

5. Download the drexler patch and install the drexler patch

6. Run RCT from your C | Program Files | Hasbro Interactive | RCT LL folder.

7. Success

If your RCT freezes or does not run trainers, do the following
Right click the RCT(dot)exe in your C | program Files | Hasbro Interactive | RCT folder, choose properties. Select the "Compatibility" tab. Check mark box "Run this program in compatibility mode for: " select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2). Check mark box in settings: "Reduced Color mode" to "16 bit." Also check mark box "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" and " Run this program as adminstrator."
Then do this for the trainer as well, same thing.

Keep your C | GOG Games | RCT Deluxe folder, but you should not run RCT from this folder, only from Hasbro Interactive, and all of your saved games should be put in here and not in GOG Games.

I used a different method to install LL, which worked. Thanks for all the time and effort though, Dirk. I'm sure this method will work for many others!

woohoo i havent tried trainers yet but i got drexler to work, looking forward to relearning the game after 7 years or however long its been
