I have to admit, we may be on our way out but we've played better and more exciting football than we ever have before. We've given the World Cup 2 exciting games lol
Suarez is a great player, just a shame he plays for Liverpool and a shame he happens to be incredibly controversial what with all the canibalism lol -

I can remember a game from England at the WC 2006 where I fell a sleep on the coach because they played so boring... This was much much much better, I guess this group is still open. I can't see Costa Rica win against Italy or England (but to be fair, nobody saw them winning against Uruguay either...) and Italy-Uruguay is hard to see who of them will win.

We essentially need Italy to beat both of them and then we need to beat Costa Rica and hope goal difference works in our favour.
But we'll see lol I'm not watching the World Cup to support England lol there's never any point in doing that -

Speaking of embarrassments, I still can't believe Spain fucked up. England probably fucked up too, but that's not even close to the embarrassment that is Spain. In fifty years, when we're watching the world cup 2062 final between the United States of Europe and the Moon Colony with the family, we will tell our grandchildren about this event. "Once upon a time, there was a country called spain in the area we now call the Iberian Sahara. [...]"
Eternal gratitude to the creative mastermind who will finish the story for me. I need to focus my writing efforts on my thesis...

No doubt Del Bosque will still be around unsuccessfully fielding the same aged first 11 and tactics with the Iberian Sahara attempting to repeat the success of 2008-2012
No doubt the United States of Europe would be a powerhouse of football, we'd take the solar system by storm!
And the ReUnited Kingdom of Great Britain will still be searching for the elusive win 96 years after 1966 lol -

I'm so proud Bryan Ruiz made the winning goal for them! I remembered his debut in European football, at my home club. Watched some videos from him in the Costa Rican competition, and when almost everybody was laughing because he was Costa Rican (did they even play football over there, their competition sucks etc) I knew he had something. That he'd be a great player!
His first match for the Buffalos, he came in as a substitute. We conceded a goal and needed the win. I said to my friend: "Ruiz will score". And he did... A fabulous one! He picked up the ball on his chest and he shot the ball in the upper corner of the goal, with so much finesse. In one time. I immediately found my favorite (Buffalo) player ever!
He became better and better, he was too good for us so we had to let him go to Twente. Lucky we got 5 millions which is the biggest transfer sum my club ever received. But he is the best player that has ever played in a Buffalo jersey... He made a stupid choice by going to Fulham. English competition is not his style. He would have been a star if he would have chosen a Spanish or Portugese club. Sadly... I really hope he can find the right club this time. Or he can come back to Gent, but that's a bit dreaming I guess
So yeah, Costa Rica all the way baby. They have some supporters over here rooting for them. We had 2 other Costa Ricans players as well in those years but of course, they weren't as good as Ruiz. Still, memorable years. Vamos Costa Rica!

So...Portugal: WTF are you doing?! Not a bad game, I'd argue that the USA were a little lucky given that they had maybe 3 or 4 chances the entire game. Nonetheless, taking nothing away from the performance. Nani was poor despite scoring and putting in a few dangerous crosses, Ronaldo still yet to have a 'good' World Cup game other than that incredible last minute cross for the equaliser. At this point, I'd say that Germany and USA are probably the most deserving to go through, but a small part of me thinks that Portugal may still have a chance if they finally 'click' against Ghana.
FredD: I take back a little about what I said about Belgium being lucky, as they did essentially dominate possession for most of the game. My point was that they were 'only' playing Algeria, and therefore they shouldn't have really a) gone behind, and b) struggled to equalise.

Belgium made it difficult gor themselves. Our style of play doesn't work good against defending teams like Algeria did against us, and Russia. The following games against Korea and Portugal/USA/Ghana should be better since they have a more attacking style of play.
But we got our target: reach the 2nd round! After 12 years without EC or WC this is a good achievement. Everything what will come next is a nice extra. Our young squad is gaining experience so I'm looking forwards to the future of our squad -

netherlands-chile is a pretty exiting match, in the first half both teams played pretty evenly, though i'd say chile was a bit better. now early in the first half i feel like we're dominating them, only that little piece of falling scum sanchez really runs for it at their side
