Yeah, that ride wasn't fun anymore, it seemed almost a kiddie coaster compared to El Toro and Kingda Ka. I'm excited to see how this drop tower is, looks cool enough. Also, we don't have many of these on the east coast, so it'll be a cool addition. -

I was so happy to learn about this. Great addition to the park, though it takes away from the family lineup (not that Rolling Thunder really was a family coaster with how rough it was, but families perceived it as a family coaster). This should be a great ride. Can't wait to try it next year.
I think the more important thing, however, is what will happen with this new space without Rolling Thunder. Will they add a new coaster in the coming years (RMC maybe) in that area? What will the path look like to get to the ride? Should be interesting. But yeah, I'm not going to miss RT too much. -

that is a great idea, actually. anyone know what the freefall time on that is going to be? I'd say the drop tower at dreamworld australia is probably in the 200-300 foot range (can't be bothered checking) and that felt like a serious drop. -

This isn't scary. falcons flight is scary. Oh and cedar point should do this
as well, even if there are patent issues. -

This probably won't be as scary as Lex Luthor. The off axis sway of Lex is fuckin crazy. Kingda Ka seems like a much more structurally sound tower. Should still be fun though. -

There wouldn't be patent issues. KingdaKa and TTD are Intamin. So is Zumanjaro. Intamin is the one that holds the patents, not Cedar Fair or Six Flags. -

Yeah, it would have to be a decently long path. The midway ends a little past the station for Kingda Ka, if I remember correctly. Which is why I think they needed to take Rolling Thunder down, as well as make access for future attractions. Also, I'm sure Rolling Thunder is getting expensive to maintain.
This is a lot different from Cedar Point, where there's a midway to the side of the entire ride (I think you can even stand next to the footers of the tower) which would allow easy access into the area if they were to do something like this, which is again, unlikely because of the Power Tower. But to be perfectly honest pure freefall is more fun than S&S towers (and I'm sure there are a few Demon Drop fanboys who miss that feeling) who would love to see an Intamin freefall again, albeit a much newer and reliable generation of drop ride. -

Im from New Jersey, with Rolling Thunder gone now, it will be a long walk to the tower. BUT, the area will allow to add expansion toward the safari behind El Toro and Bizarro. If the rumored wing coaster doesnt go in the Backlot, I see it going back there next to Bizarro.
As for the tower, I am excited to ride this. Should give some great views of the park. A little nervous to see how the ride acts as a train climbs the tower though. Would it shake? will the tower sway back and forth? or will nothing happen? Great job Great Adventure.
