Kinda makes me think who the fuck are the oscars gonna go to.

American Hustle, SAVING MR. BANKS, George Clooney, the wolf of wall street, Inside Llewyn Davis, The Butler, Blue Jasmine, Frozen and hopefully Don Jon.

You're currently thinking of summer blockbusters as if they're possible oscar material. They usually aren't even close to having a chance. Most of the potential oscar winners have yet to be released. The academy has a memory span that doesn't go that much further than two/three months back, so studios try to release their potential winners around october/november/sometimes december.

Most of the winners won't even go wide untill 2014. Studios tend to wait with their wide release untill they got the nominations. Like Django and Silver Linings.

^I know that, just when I looked forward at what was to be released I didn't really see anything OMG spectacular like there usually is.

Oscars are dumb.

^^I'm not too excited about American Hustle, even though that one seems to be a major contender in most of the big categories. But I personally am really excited about Saving Mr. Banks, from what I've seen Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson are bringing their A+-game which will make it even more awesome. Other than that I'll have to wait what the nominations will bring us, but like other years I'll probably watch them all.

^Oscars are fun. They're not representative for the movies of the year but it's interesting to see which movies get nominated and win. Most filmmakers don't take them too seriously anyway.

Inception didn't get the awards it deserved.

So far I've seen Elysium, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, and Despicable Me 2 - and that's just the summer. Elysium was probably the best movie I've seen yet, Sea of Monsters was a great adaptation of the book, and Despicable Me 2 was funny, but Gru isn't a magnificent bastard anymore. I miss that.

Despicable me 2 is a on trick pony movie, what I meant about that is that it just doesn't deserve second watching Unlike Toy story series, Up, Monsters inc, Finding Nemo that is certainly enjoyable by kids but also has some deeper meaning in it, DM2 is a bit shallow. but It's really funny at times. I have yet to watch The conjuring ( which most of the people I knew said it's really good ), Machete Kills, and Insidious 2

i saw You're Next last night, which i didn't even realize was out until yesterday, and holy fucking shit it's incredible. Absolutely my film of the year. every single aspect of the film is exemplary. the pacing is flawless, the story is smart, the characters are genuinely interesting, and it's got the most badass horror heroine i can think of. you like horror films and/or thrillers its really a must see.

Been going to the movies at least once a week this summer. here's a list in order:

Iron Man 3: 8/10 Definitely the best of The three to me. I only dislike the fact that Tony Stark was so powerless throughout the movie, but at the same time.

Fast 6: 7/10 being a huge fan of Fast & Furious I enjoyed it very Much but there were too many moments that were overexaggerated, such as the 30mile runway, catching someone in mid-air off a bridge, and Dwayne johnson jumping off of everything... But those Cars were amazing, especially Shaw's ramp cars.

RIPD: doesnt have a rating... I fell asleep not far long after Ryan Reynolds died.

Now You See Me: 9/10 beautifully directed and has one of tge best plots of any movie I've ever seen. This was a masterpiece and a nominee for my favorite movie of the year

Man Of Steel: 7/10. If anyone has seen this, remember the moment where clark was going against 2 of Zod's crew members and he was grabbed by the foot while trying to fly away? That made the movie for me /> But on a serious note, the fighting scenes were downright sick, and I'd definitely buy this on DVD.

World War Z: 6/10 as much as I liked the action in this movie, there were too many questions unanswered. But the Israeli and plane scenes were pretty awesome.

Monsters University: 8/10 I'm not a fan of kids movies, but this was a surprisingly good prequel for Monsters Inc.

The Heat: 6/10 Wasn't the funniest movie I've ever seen, but it was alright. Nice to see Sandra Bullock without blonde hair.

This is The End: ... My friends and I were kicked out about 20minutes into it...

Pacific Rim: 9/10 one word. EPIC. I, like most people expected this to be a transformers knockoff, but the proportions were far past that of Michael Bay... If that's possible. In my opinion, this is a candidate for my favorite movie of 2013.

Turbo: 4/10 call me a pessimist, but I just couldn't get over the fact that a snail would try to race, Pretty much ruined it for me.

Despicable Me 2: 7/10 gotta love those minions, It was Funny seeing Gru act as a parental figure.

Elysium: 9/10 Jesus Almighty... This is tied with Pacific Rim for my favorite movie of 2013. The plot was amazing, It was a mindfuck to see District 9's main character as the villian. Truly a great movie.

My top 3 would have to be:
1: Pacific Rim
2: Elysium
3: Now You See Me

2013 got a bit less shitty the past few days.

7.7 - Elysium (not a new District 9, flawed, but still pretty solid, definitely entertaining and I loved the visuals. Great design, great execution.) (new #1 for this year)
7.7 - Borgman (Dutch award-winning movie. Very dark, absurd, confusing, atmospheric, fascinating and funny. I loved every bit) (new #2)

I saw KickAss 2 the other day. I enjoyed it. I hadn't seen the first one, but this film pretty much set the scene and gave enough info for me to figure out what was happening (and had happened previously). An entertaining, silly action film I'd say. 7/10

I also saw Monsters University. Again, I enjoyed it, and appreciated the references and links to Monsters Inc. (which I have seen). Upon reflection, it's moderately thin on storyline, but a nice addition to the Pixar collection, even though probably not one of their best. 7.5/10

The Great Gatsby:
Story wasn't too interesting. Visuals were stunning except for the beginning when the montage was going wáy to fast. Acting was top notch.

I'm not sure how they're gonna make a part 2 though. The director said that a part two was already planned before NYSM was even done, so that eases the bad side.

This made me cringe. Sorry, but that's just how Baz Luhrmann does it. Watch any of his films and you will understand. Especially Moulin Rouge, which is amazing. He makes it extremely fast-paced at the beginning to set up an incredible ending.

I didn't have that problem with Romeo + Juliet. I know Luhrman and even though that's his trademark, I hope I'm allowed to not enjoy that part of his direction.

I like Tarantino movies but not because of all the blood and gore even though that's his trademark.

More okayish 2013 movies!

7.7 - Europa Report (pretty cool scifi)
6.5 - Pain & Gain (exceptionally good for a Michael Bay film. It was alright!)
7.0 - This Is the End (good entertainment.)

I can't watch Moulin Rouge. It's hundreds and hundreds of 2 second scenes, and it gives me a headache.

Pain & Gain:
The beginning sucked, the end less. Mostly because they tempered the voice-overs down.
