Ask the Experts / 1 train 20-50 cars

Is it possible?

So far what I've done to try and achieve this is.

:8cars(putting 20 in the cars section and pressing apply)
this happens for a brief second(game says 19 cars but when I test the ride ,it resets back to 7)

Also I do click "8 car trains" on 8cars.

Is there another way to have 1 train with as many cars as you wish?

Another question

is it possible to shoestring two separate trains together to make 1 train?

I've tried this before aswel, can not be done without intense hacking for specific design purpose, depends on what you mean to do with the long train, but there's no easy way round
