i think it's pretty undeniable that liampe and louis belong in the finals, though i do wish there was actual criteria instead of just a list of accepted membersYou guys running the contest conveniently placed yourself into the finals already.

Actually, if said criteria was read, both Louis and Liam have obtained accolades with scores over the 80% mark, and a set bench has always been the case with the ProTours..
...and if people absolutely hate the bench that Louis will provide, then they must hate 90%+ of the most commonly used objects as his benches contain them with every updated release. Plus, on the official bench each builder is allowed an addition of 5 blocks of their choice, so I don't see the problem here. The only issue with a bench is if you're a fan of the WW/TT scenery, which unfortunately won't be included in this bench as far as I can tell. -

Yeah if people actually read the first post it actually states all the criteria pretty clearly and shows that me and Liam have both met that criteria pretty clearly. Also notice that Gee and Posix don't qualify, so no, not all admins have been qualified. And in actual fact, I find the prelims the funnest part, so I'd rather not be automatically qualified.
I didn't realise people at this site were still so bitchy and whiny. -

Wait, I did not realize that so many people did not know how the 'elite' list was picked, because at first I had trouble finding the method.
It's just if you have a release 80%+ -

Good god, how can people on this site be so damn unappreciative?
EDIT: ... AND incapable of basic reading comprehension? -

Good job Louis, great comtest, bla bla bla, kiss ass
But in all sencerity, we should try reading before we criticize and complain -

you must be new here?
@ coupon - all Baker-related teasing aside, I'm looking forward to seeing that since we all know how personally attached to the idea you are. Should be good.
Do the regulations forbid me from blatantly lying and telling everyone else not to bother entering since I have completed masterpieces for every category? -

Well it's all good you've met the criteria but you also set the criteria..
And if the bench is gonna be 90%+ of objects everyone uses why not just make the bench open.. -

What, are they supposed to ask a random member to set the criteria? "Hey, you, GigaG, develop the rules for the Pro Tour. K, thanks." They're the admins, they're supposed to develop the rules. Besides, 80% is not easy to acheive, and is a fine marker of quality for "elites" that's exclusive while still being relatively inclusive. Shit, a good enough design gets you in; that's better than them limiting it to, say, gold or higher. The standards are fine, and if the admins qualified, it's because they're both great players with active, high-quality contributions to the community through their releases. Again, neither gee nor posix qualified, and they're pretty "elite" players as well. The standards are as objective as you can make them at this point.
I won't even broach the bench subject, but did iris ever get shit for having set benches in competitions? -

I'm ninety-nine percent sure that the bench serves as a way to make sure everyone starts at the same time. -

I figured it was that, along with the challenge that is adapting to a set bench, or something along those lines.I'm ninety-nine percent sure that the bench serves as a way to make sure everyone starts at the same time.
Lol, I was thinking the same thing Matt. -

dr dirt, you're trolling right? please just say you are. You can't be this stupid.
Somewhat.
But I still don't like how the 'elite' were selected.. If you think the 80% was decided on without their qualifying you're kidding yourself. I don't see how prelims with everyone would've been a problem, if they're the elite they should get in piece of cake. -

The Pro Tour was always based around having a set group already "enrolled" in the contest (back when iris first started it up they were called "parkmakers"). Then, the new guys who wanted to prove themselves, did so. I agree that its somewhat flawed, since members like geewhzz and nin would most likely be included in the old "parkmakers" echelon yet they're absent from the "elite" here. I think the system the current admin team has come up with is the best solution while still sticking with tradition. Louis, Liam and posix are all a bunch of bright dudes, I'm sure they tossed around plenty ideas until they arrived at this one since it seems to make the most sense. -

Just thought I'd stop by and say, 80%+ is perfect. The right people are in. Good job on selecting the format, admins
