Pro Tour 4 / Pro Tour 4 Rules & Regulations

Xcoaster, SAcoasterfreak, Fatha' and JKay are definitely elite. But they are not today's elite. Everyone that has won an accolade of very high quality during the past five years is included. The top players from five years (arguable for cases like XCoaster, but you got to draw the line somewhere...). If you haven't released anything 80%+ in that period you're not 'today's elite'. We left out 'today's' because it's not as catchy; we are definitely aware that the actual all-time 'elite' (as far as you can take that term serious) is more than the people we listed.

And no hard feelings Comet. :)

Ok. everybody stop, let 'comet' make the list of who is allowed in and let him run the contest.

Stop being an ass and be a bit more appreciative of what the admins are doing for the community with this contest. Don't whine over some people not being in the list that have moved on with their lives and haven't produced one relevant piece of work for the past five years.

There are indeed some current 'elitist' parkmakers not currently on that list, but if they really wanted, one tiny prelim would've get them in easily.
Also, it's not that hard to get in with the new rules of more people per round going through to the main round..

The process they used to find the Elite is systematic. How could it be biased or subjective? Yes, members like SAC should be included but when's the last time we've seen him even post, let alone show a screenshot or play the game at all? The way the admin team selected the Elite players is the best way to find the current top players while not playing favorites. I don't understand why people find this so hard to grasp. If people don't agree with it, then stop complaining and don't participate. It's as simple as that.

I'm not complaining, or asking them to change anything, or planning on participating. I was just giving my opinion. This matter has zero effect on me personally I guess, but I just think that if anyone with a past spotlight were to check in on the site for the first time in years and decide to come out of 'retirement' for this contest then they should be allowed to. They shouldn't have to jump into a qualifier weeks after people have started on there's. Either agree or disagree but don't say stuff like how this is a sad day in the world or stupid shit like that cause I disagree with one rule in a contest. People act like if someone disagrees with one thing here they should just not even bother giving their opinion and just leave the matter alone or leave the site

Back to the reason I quoted you Steve...what I meant by biased is that they chose the threshold for elite. It was choosing that way to decide that was biased not the actual rule itself

There's plenty of room to debate the rules and many obvious places where they could be improved, but I think most everyone can agree that they're close enough to be workable.

For me the biggest hole is really the fact that there aren't any uniform judging criteria. I think the community has a pretty good sense of what an 80%+ accolade looks like - even if votes still swing widely on those - but there is no precedent for what an 80% entrance or an 80% landscape looks like. Of course most of the "elite" are panelists anyway and they have their own sensibilities that we presumably trust, but unless they have gotten together to agree on what a good entrance is things may be fuzzy for a while.

Speaking of elite, I think it's quite safe to say that the list will grow with a couple of names after round 1. ;) #spoilers #yolo

If every person that's been posting above average screenshots would've gotten an entry into the contest on forehand, we would receive way less entries in the finals.

if this sentence was not this sentence then maybe not read as hard

I think he means that the prelims are driving up the competitive spirit, so we'll have more entries in the finals than if it was only auto-qualifiers.
  • ][ntamin22%s's Photo
prelims are driving me to build a lot of stuff really fast and I wouldn't be surprised to see people who enter several get burned out and not actually finish something for the final

    Yes, this sort of.

I know my sentence wasn't the prettiest but was it really that hard to understand? This was not meant cynical/sarcastic!
