There is some very great game music.
Some of the top of my head:

- God of War series

- Pscychonauts - not that noticeable standalone, but once again combined with proper setting and art it shines

..that said, I highly enjoy the Halo series, SimCity '13 has a great one, and surprisingly so does Madden 13.

As far as enhancing the experience (Which is really what a video game soundtrack should do), Half-Life 2 wins for me. As for stand-on-its-own good, the F1 2012 menu music is fucking awesome for some reason... especially around the 1:30 mark. Reminds me of the Tron soundtrack.

literally anything from ocarina of time is great.

I recently rediscovered how enchanting and nostalgic this song is: dire dire docks from mario 64 btw, I don't think I'ver seen more positive comments on a youtube video before.
mario 64 also has excellent music.

the original halo theme is awesome, as well as the under the sea and welcome to rapture score from bioshock. and who could forget "will the circle be unbroken" from bioshock infinite
