Ask the Experts / Clean reininstall not working

Hi guys,

I decided to do a clean re-install of RCT2 to clear out all of the custom content I had. After the uninstall process went through, I deleted the RCT2 folder and then re-installed the game. However, when I went to scenario editor, every single one of my custom content was still there! (even all of my previous saved games & landscapes despite deleting them before I re-installed). I tried the same re-install process again but it was still the same.

Suspecting my old data was perhaps saved onto the RCT2 disk, I installed it on another computer. I ran the game and there was no trace of any custom content. I checked the objdata folder and it said there were 772 items. Then I went back to my computer and checked the objdata folder (after re-installing), it said 772 items too, but why is the custom content still appearing?

Can anyone help pls?

If I am not mistaken, you can check a box (when uninstalling) saying you want to get rid (or don't want to save) certain RCT2 files. Maybe you could try that?

If you uninstall custom stuff doesn't get deleted. You need to manually delete your old RCT folder if you reinstall it into the same map.

I did check the box asking me whether I wanted to delete my saved games, scenarios etc while uninstalling. I also checked to see if my old RCT2 folder was deleted before re-installing, but all my custom scenery and saved games are still there after re-installing.

There was another strange thing, after re-installing, I downloaded a park and moved it into my new and completely empty saved games folder (so there is only one item in that folder). Then when I started the game and tried to load a park, I saw my old saved games along with the park I just downloaded. I went back to check the saved games folder and there still only that one park I downloaded.

It is as though my RCT2 game refuses to acknowledge the data in my new RCT2 folder and is still somehow recieving data from the old RCT2 folder (even though it was deleted during un-installation).

Like Tyandor said: The best thing you can do is to uninstall the game, delete the content of the folder manually and then do an install again.

or something similar for Rct2. The game stores things here sometimes as well. Try checking here.
