Maybe your attention wonders as much as mine does.In the course of writing this, I've gone through three songs, but I'm not sure how. A bit creepy, actually... I don't type that slowly... or do I? Hmm...
HEY LOOK, A DOG WITH A FLUFFY TAIL!!
You only just got Sigur Ros' second album (yeah, I can't be bothered to look up the spelling)? But, dude. You got (), what, two years ago? More? What the Hell, man, what the Hell!
Did you ever read that Pitckfork review for that one Mum album. Hilarity. HILARITY!
I am listening to:
Onkalo (Cavity)
Pan Sonic
Kesto (CD1)
Which is going to flow into the next track (my favourite of the album, probably), any moment now. Noise-induced spiritual bliss awaits. The reason I'm listening to this mammoth motherfucker this peculiar winter which has me addicted to other things (Spiderland, various Hydra-head bands, Mercury Rev), is:
I have decided I need more Pan Sonic. I only have this and Kulma. Five hours is not enough. I'm shooting for Endless, their collaboration with that dude from Suicide. Yeah, that dude.
I also fully intend to get me some Ryoji Ikeda someday. It shall be a glorious day for my ears. Or perhaps not.
I am now on Mayhem 2. If I was black, I'd be dancing, right about now.
I see Turtle over there is listening to some Butthole Surfers. Interesting....
You ever listen to The Boredoms, my main man?
Time to surprise you all: I don't actually like the Boredoms. No, really. In fact, let's clear this shit up once and for all:
Just because something is dissonant, atonal, or noisy, doesn't neccessarily mean I'm going to jizz all over it, OKAY?
Same with ambient. For example. Treefingers. Is fucking stupid. Fact.
Except for the first and last tracks, Ambient1? Boring!!
Don't hurt me, Gardner. Don't hurt me. At least we can agree that Ambient4 is better than Jesus.
Hilarity, incoming:
Now on Keskeisvoima (Centralforce). Oh man, this one also has a kickass crescendo.Annie Reckson: I too...can listen to both sides of the spectrum...at the same time.
Annie Reckson: Chris...can't say that.
Annie Reckson: He is either...industrial...or pop/punk...but can he do both?
Phil Ratio: CHRIS DOES NOT LISTEN TO INDUSTRIAL!
Annie Reckson: Not anymore.
Phil Ratio: THAT PISSES ME THE FUCK OFF!
* Annie Reckson hides
Phil Ratio: SKINNY PUPPY ARE NOT INDUSTRIAL!
Phil Ratio: FUCKING HELL, ANNIE!
* Annie Reckson hides more.
Phil Ratio: MINISTRY, ARE NOT INDUSTRIAL!
Annie Reckson: I was thinking more...Tool...
Phil Ratio: NINE INCH NAILS, ARE NOT INDUSTRIAL!
Phil Ratio: TOOL, ARE NOT INDUSTRIAL!
* Annie Reckson continues hiding.
Phil Ratio: I am feeling an urge to destroy things.
Annie Reckson: Jason Mraz then?
Phil Ratio: Throbbing Gristle, Whitehouse, Einsturzende Neubauten, they are industrial!
Phil Ratio: Industrial-metal is fucking bullshit-industrial that isn't industrial at all.
Phil Ratio: Okay.
Phil Ratio: I'm trying to calm down, now.
Phil Ratio: Deep breaths, Git, deep breaths.
Annie Reckson: Nine Inch Nails : Styles
Rock
Industrial
Alternative Pop/ Rock
Alternative Metal
Industrial Metal
Phil Ratio: That don't mean shit, yo.
Phil Ratio: Do they sound anything like Einsturzende Neubauten to you?
Phil Ratio: Fuck no.
Phil Ratio: Because it's techno-pop bullshit, is why.
Annie Reckson: The Neubs sound mostly like noise to me.
Annie Reckson: techno-pop? NIN?
Phil Ratio: HEY, LET'S RIP THEM OFF, AND FUCKING ADD DUMBASS DANCE BEATS AND MORONIC LYRICS!!!
Phil Ratio: Fucking bollocks.
* Annie Reckson goes back into hiding
Phil Ratio: Okay, I'm alright, I'm alright, remember what Isabelle said, remember what Isabelle said...
Annie Reckson: Stop touching my breast you freak?
Phil Ratio: Yes. -

You must know that I was brainwashed into liking this stuff thanks to my Schizophrenic, beer-and-King Crimson addicted, abusive, Sufi, lunatic father... same with Sun Ra... anywho...

The new Sum 41 album is really (surprisingly) good. The older stuff is too pop-punk-ish for me. The new stuff is a lot more more metal. Anyways...No Reason
Sum 41
Chuck
Sum 41??!! Good?!?!
Laid to Rest
Lamb of God
Ashes of the Wake
...just changed to...
At the End of August
36 Crazyfists
A Snow-Capped Romance
Two fuckin' sweet bands. -

Yeh, tell me about it. I wouldnt say they were more metal, they've just earned their punk credentials by becoming a true punk band. The new Sum 41 album is really (surprisingly) good. The older stuff is too pop-punk-ish for me. The new stuff is a lot more more metal. Anyways...
To me, Sum41 began as mainstream pop-punkers but with each album they're becoming better songwriters and more "punk" -

Ived heard both but if you listen to some bands like Anti-Flag, Rise Against, Strike Anywhere and Thought Riot then you'll see what I mean when I say Sum41 have exchanged their pop edge for more hard hitting punk. I agree they have some elements of metal there too though.
