I like Parabola but think it's a little too mainstream. By that I mean it lacks a bit of the distinctiveness I find in other Tool songs such as Lateralis. The beat is 4/4 and the parts of the song are arranged in an order that isn't too unusual. I like Lateralis because the parts are separated by longer intervals, and after the bridge you have 4 1/2 minutes of new stuff that still gives a hint of the first 5. Plus, its length of 9 minutes 24 seconds makes it almost epic, whereas the actual song in Parabola is only 4 1/2 minutes, the other 1 1/2 being guitars fading away.
