^ the book was much more about the vietnam war, c/f the domino effect with the islands falling to tourism, richard's constant dreams, the ending with the my lai (sp?) massacre. And of course his spotting sessions with Mister Duck.
The main criticisms I had of the film was firstly the introduction of sex, with Francoise and Sal, there's a reason it didn't happen in the book, and the complete withdrawal of one of the main characters, Jed.
Anyway. Lots of support for the nearest-famous-band-to-me, Keane, in fact all three went to a school panoramical went to, in fact the father of the singer was the headmaster of the same school when he was there. It's good to see some honest, down to earth and let's face it unfashionable guys doing well on the world stage. TPM, I believe, lives about 2 mins from their home town. -
