mantis, chartmusic, what the masses hear and like, is 90% crap. Hence my scepticalness. -

All the more reason to make the effort to seek out the 10% that isn't crap and support it, eh?mantis, chartmusic, what the masses hear and like, is 90% crap. Hence my scepticalness.

Hmmm, possibly.
I just think that bands that aren't in the charts make music more for themselves instead of for the money.
But I must say I kinda like this "Somewhere only we know", even if my britpop days ended 3 years ago...
Listening to "The Streets - Fit But You Know It" again.
I don't know what I'd pay to have an accent like he does...
When you Brits hear it, can you tell where exactly he comes from? As in, is it London-ish? Brighton-ish? etc. ? In which corner would you put him/them -

^ area's not as easy as social class to tell often. I mean, skinner's a pikie, or at least pretending to be one. He's not from much further north than watford either I think (based on his accent)... it's incredibly easy to tell welsh/irish/scottish/liverpudlians and anyone from cornwall/somerset apart. Birmingham tends to have a distinctive accent as well. Apparently everyone talks posh down here in the south, but they don't, they all talk like the guy from the streets.
Oh yeh, and Keane definitely aren't in the charts to make money. They're decent guys who are there because of the quality of the music. If you've ever seen them live, you'd probably agree that the frontman has about as much skill in entertaining audiences between songs as my left testicle does.
I love that album btw, best one of 2004 so far for me. And they come from a town about 30mins from where I live -

He's from where i'm from (ie Birmingham) - and I know this cos his mum used to work at the same hospital as mine.
I only have a Birmingham accent when i'm talking to friends, I think - my parents speak pretty neutral English so so do I.
Posix - if people were making it solely for the music, then why release it at all in the first place? Heh, i'm being awkward, but it's kinda true.

^I take it this is the freaky bald guy and the bus that kidnaps kids and takes them to the amusement park, all to some freakish early 90's danceclub beat? (I dunno the real song, sorry)That same commercial advertises every other Six Flags park, as well. It's a pretty disturbing spot.
Anyway...

That is a very good point.Posix - if people were making it solely for the music, then why release it at all in the first place? Heh, i'm being awkward, but it's kinda true.
I once got to hear some music from a Japanese otaku who was solely living for making music, he said. And not for selling it. His aim was to combine the five elements within his music, or so. It sounded absolutely jawdropping. -

I am currently listening to a bluegrass medley of Radiohead songs, entitled "Rodeohead". It is fucking hysterical.
