hey guys, I've recently started playing RCT2 again and I have a question. Okay so when I start a new scenario and when it gets to the point where you can choose your scenery, it always comes up with the error like there's too many items in the set. I was wondering how you guys are able to work with the resources you have? it's quite a challenge for me and I never know how to use them. -

Custom Scenery: you go into the mode where you select the individual pieces of scenery that you want/need for your park. There are a few scenery groups when you go into this mode (such as trees & various, walls fences & roofs, signs, benches, and so on) one has 252 allotted spots, the two of the others have 128, and some have a few less than that. If you're getting that error, it is likely that the 252 or the 128 slots are full and you cannot get those classifications of scenery. I believe you can get one or two extra with dat checker, but I'm not sure given that I've never used it.
If you don't use the grouped scenery objects and go in to individually select what you need in advanced mode, it makes things a little easier, but be careful not to have too many in the miscellaneous scenery tab (?) otherwise they won't all show up when you go to build. Try using some custom scenery as well, using smaller units for higher level building and less scenery items (find ways to use more items to build the same thing instead of wasting spots on larger scenery items that could be duplicated using smaller pieces) Those who have been around the site longer will have even better tips on this topic, especially in terms of nice custom scenery to have and use
Hope this helps -

I get these errors too, even when an object category isn't full. Must be a bug/glitch or something. Anyway, there are a few strategies to get the desired object selection:
- simply select tabs
- select tabs, remove items you don't want one by one. Pick additional items that weren't included in the tabs.
- select items one by one, then select tabs to group them. May result in messy and chaotic object grouping and a big ?-tab.
- make your own tabs. Not easily done, only recommendable if you plan on working with the same objects for a long while and if existing object tabs aren't satisfying enough.
- work with an existing bench
- work with an existing bench and make small changes in the scenario editor or while building your park using Parkdat.
I usually go with the last option; I open a bench I made earlier, alter it a bit (like the second option) and I move on quickly because I can rely on parkdat anyway.
