Becouse some of you asked if I could open the topic with the story of my fiesta screens, here it is:

Attractionpark "The Gooseburg"/Attractiepark "De Ganzenburg"

Hey there I'm M. Arkant, and I own a succesful amusement park in the north of the Netherlands. Becouse our park exists 20 years this year, I want to take you on a journy into history...

When I was a kid, me and my parants lived in the lovely little place Westergeest, in Friesland. For the people who don't know that little place, it's near Kollumerzwaag. I was an only child so I was spoiled verry much. When I was 18 I finished my High School and went to university. I choose the Technical Universe of Eindhoven. The distance was quite big so I didn't see my parents verry often anymore. Of course, I saw them on the aniversary's and we called quite often, but it wasn't as much contact as before. Becouse of the distance I wasn't there when my mom died. I still feel bad about that. My father, although 78, still wanted to continue the farm compagny and he still did it for two years. In the beginning of 1991, he went sick. From that time his health was on a downward hill. Two months after he became sick, he died.

For me being an only child, that meant that I became the owner of the farm, the company, the land and all the savings from my parents, about 50000 euros. My wife (I was married by then and had two kids) and I stood for a diffecult decission. Sell the farm and the company, or sell our house in the south of and go back to my roots and take over the buissines. After thought about it a lot, we made our choice: we're going to the north. I will now guide you guys over the farm how it was back then:


The farmhouse, although it looks small it has lots of space.


The little lake where I used to swimm with my friends, en in the back the little house where I used to have sleepovers with the same friends.

This can be a lot of fun, if you pull it off right. I hope you'll be able to have it develop in a natural and realistic way, and that you won't run out of space (réálly small map you've got there).

We'll see, but this stuff's got my attention alright.

P.s. I just came up with one comment: For some reason I find it highly annoying that all the patches of foliage are practically the same size, and all have óne 2x2 tree combined with 4/5 1x1 trees. Maybe diversify this. Have one or two smaller patches without bigger trees and a patch with 2 of them. Right now it feels very artificial.

Also, do you live in an agricultural environment? The correctness of the detailing on that green building is rather striking.

1992, a restaurant!

Hi there, me again! We go back into history to 1992, the date we take as the opening of Attractiepark "De Ganzenburg", becouse we bought our first attraction! Even after 10 years, it is still working and it has a special place in the park today. But lets start at the beginning...

Short after my wife and I took over the farm of my parants, we saw that it didn't really go well. The costs were rising harder then the profits, so something had to change and fast. Now, the area that we live in is loved by tourists who come to bike and walk. So then I came with the idea of a restaurant. A restaurant in combination with a playground and a pettin zoo would maybe pull us out of the downgoing profits. So we called a local contractor and the costs for the restaurant, the playground and the petting zoo were about 150.000 gulden (for them who don't know, thats the old currency of Holland, before the Euro). Luckely we had a nice bunch of cash from our old house and the savings from my parents. It was beautifull when it was finished, but I also feld something was missing. What that was, we found out when we took all our workers to the fair to celebrate the finishing of all the work. We saw a nice carrousel, with a sigh: FOR SALE, FOR MORE INFORMATION CALL: 0613246587. The next day I called the owner and we came by to look at it. It was in perfect state and we bought it immediatly. Together with the restaurant, the playground and the petting zo, the carrousel opened on May the 1st, 1992.

Now I will show you some pictures about how the park was back in 1992:


The restaurant with the little parking lot. People come here te bike and walk, so we expected less cars back then.


The playground with our carrousel. A ride on the carrousel costs 50 cents, but if you buy something in the little candystore or in the restaurant, you'll get a free ride. In the back you see the petting farm, wich we tried to look old. On the left there is a little soccerfield with a little platform where you can watch kids play soccer, or just enjoy your cola and sit in the sun.

The last thing I want to show you is a little survey of the park in 1992:

This is very interesting, I haven't seen a timeline park in ages! I can't wait for this to get some roller coasters in it.
I assume the size of the park will grow overtime.

The kiddy playground is allready looking funny.
I like the slide, the stairs a little less. Maybe lower the slide and then add some stairs/steps to the (lowered) sandbox, so the stairs to climb up the slide will be shorter.
The climbing rack is nice too.

Keep going.

This is one of the more interesting parks/story's i've seen.

1993, a campsite, horse stables and more...

Hi and welcome back to our journey into history. We came to the year of 1993 and this year we opened our brand new campsite with lots of comfort and a swimming lake, our new horse stables where we organise riding trips in the beautiful Frisian landscape every weekend and holliday and... A new attraction! This year we introduce a new ride "Draai" (the Dutch word for Twist), a nauseating twisting ride that we bought from a friend of the guy we bought our carroussel from. He was retiering from traveling from fair to fair with is ride and was happy when we bought it from him. Guests on the campsite get 10 free rides on both the Carroussel and Draai and they get discount on horse riding trips. We hope to take advantage of the much tourists in our area and are trying to make ourself more profits. The last couple of years profits were verry low and with this years expension we are having financial problems. We hope this year we can get enough money to keep improving our little park/playground.

Now I have a couple of pics for you:


The new "Draai" and the horse stables. The colours of "Draai" are still the original ones, becouse we hadn't got the money to paint it. We hope to dot that next season.


The campsite. The building on the front is the reception and the sannitairy facilities. In the back you see the little lake we've cleaned and now our guests can swim when the attractions are closed.

please dont build a steel coaster. A woodie would be the best and in my mind should be the choice if your going to build any coaster.

I like this little project. maybe in the campsite add 1 or 2 tents/caravans just to give the campsite a more interestng feel
