General Chat / Online Petition

Hey everybody... I was hoping that I could get a little support from NE for my online petition (Iris has already seen it... and signed it, actually).

It's to the United States Film Industry saying to stop putting so many of the good parts of movies into the previews. You know what I am talking about. All the jokes in a comedy are in the previews so that when you see it... well, it ain't funny.

So, please atleast read the petition and if you could, sign it. We all want a little more movie, and a lot less preview, right? I'd hope so.

Dude, come on now seriously... now I am not going to flame you because we both share the same 1st names. But are the "Big buisness whoevers" really going to care about this petition. NO. Not to get your hopes down or anything. I'll sign for the heck of it anyways though.

That is just a big scam to get your email adress. :( For the spammers.

I agree that hollywood is putting all the good stuff in the previews all too often. But they're just trying to sell their products. In most cases where they show the good bits in the previews the movie sucks (a la that piece of trash Balistic), and if you can't tell which movies are gonna suck you deserve to go home wanting your money back.

If you really want to change something, petition hollywood to stop making so many fucking bad movies.

Movies should just be better... Much easier that way.

There's no such thing as a bad movie. Film is subjective by nature. One group of people could think that it's truly amazing while another group despises it. It is impossible for "Hollywood" to make a movie that pleases everyone.

    In conclusion, fuck you Radu.

    No... Everyone agrees "Glitter" sucked.

Or you can just stop going to them. See more good films and they'll start making more good films.

This weekend, don't waste your cash on How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days, Bringing Down The House, Old School, or any of the other peices of crap out there.

Go and see the Pianist, the Quiet Ameircan, Spirited Away, a foreign film or even Chicago! Support worthwhile films, while not supporting bad ones and eventually you will see more worthwhile ones and less bad ones.

But while crap sells, they'll keep selling it. After all, crap is easier to make than genius.

That's quite alright. I still love him. ;)X

this ranks among the stupidest things i've ever heard. Its their movie, let them advertise it the way they want. If you think they showed all the funny parts in the preivew, don't go to see the movie. If they didn't show the funny parts...who would go?

let them do what they want with their creation.

Its a country of free speech, that includes advertisement, :spam:

No, it wasn't necessary. But it was fun.

I agree. Funny stuff. And Radu's gotten used to it... I mean... all that stuff Git's done... ;)
  • JBruckner%s's Photo
Git has violated many people. Radu wasnty the first. :p Like the new sig Ty.

Look at it this way...if you're getting all the good stuff in the previews, you don't have to shell out the bucks to see the movie. Consider it a money saving feature and embrace it.
  • Jellybones%s's Photo
Nothing will ever come close to Monty Python and the Holy Grail anyhow.

    Don't bother looking.

It's hard to tell hundreds of millions of people not to see crappy movies. I'd like to think that I've become pretty good at screening out the crap from the good, and I'm not often wrong. But this goes back to the original thing - misleading previews.

Go and see the Pianist, the Quiet Ameircan, Spirited Away, a foreign film or even Chicago! Support worthwhile films, while not supporting bad ones and eventually you will see more worthwhile ones and less bad ones.

Um...duh? Except the part where you said there'll be more worthwhile movies. There will always be crappy movies, just because there are a lot of easily entertained people in the world (look at all of us sorry losers :p ), and it would seem that without such masterpieces as "Dude, Where's my Car?" or any movie with Jet Le and ________ (insert has-been rap artist here), that the easily entertained would be more likely to spend their money on something else rather than seeing an intelligent movie, such as those you mentioned. So of course crap is gonna sell.

    Hello.

I hate to burst everyone's bubble here, but if you want to blame anyone for showing too much of the film during the trailer...

Blame the director and editor. They are the ones who make the trailers about 70% of the time sans effects.

The studio has the final say no matter what, but for the most part it's the filmmakers who do the trailers.

Has anyone seen Tears of the Sun?

It sucked so bad. I expected tons of explosions and fighting scenes. But no, it was about some loser army guys walking through the jungle with 20 Africans while avoiding enemy threats. The only explosions were in the last 10 minutes. It sucked bad.
