    What are you aiming at?

So I can find the objects that are related, And know what each dat is. Like if I wanted all scary dat, all jungle and animal , all pirate, etc.

Aha ,in that case put all the items you want to identify in a park (savegame) and then open it with parkdat (program that's available here) to see wich datname belongs to a specific item.

But did you also mean you have 16000 dats in your folder?
If that's the case you'll need to clean it up, otherwise you can never create a workbench yourself.

Yes I have 16000 dats , but I have moved most of them into a separate folder. And just kept the ones to run the current Saved Games. And if I need one' I have it. I do use park dat. it shows the dat name, and dat description, no picture.

then I copy them to another folder and use Dat Checker to see picture. But somtimes there is no dat description, and when it gets into the Scenario editor they are blank at the begining, get enough, of them and you can't scroll down, even if you don't have the limit. I would like to know whats in the different groups. So I can pick what I want, useing the Editor or Park Dat. I have created a list for the rides, building etc. But scenery is huge.

I don't rember like I did before getting sick. And I need something to see the Dat name, dat description, and Dat picture. what group SS or LS Hope this has not confused you too much.

    No confusion, i understand.
I think you've taken a real confusing challenge by trying to sort all this.
Maybe open the files with object editor (like you've mentioned) and change the dat name.
If this doesn't work for you, then good luck.

I didn't know you could change the dat number. But wouldn't it be adding more dats with the same item. Which is one of the reason there are so many.

But I'm really intersted in what other people do. They must have a way.

I thank you for all your help.

Yes ,you would make duplicates that way ,but if you remove the unrecognizable ones, then it shouldn't be a problem, only lot's of work. :'(
I agree with you on the fact that it's annoying to have 3 or 4 of the same items with different datnames. This way the objdata folder clutters up unneccesary, wich is a shame.
I've also got a program that can eliminate duplicates. I don't know if you have all the programs available for rct2?
