My congrats to both teams for making *it to the finals and for all the parks you made during the *competition. Here are some of my thoughts on the parks.
Parque Warner-
I haven't seen much of the real Parque Warner, but given more time I think this park could have developed into one of the best realistic parks ever made on the site. I hope you guys might build more on this in the future.
This is a little list of the things I liked in the park.
- I really liked the entrance and surrounding area. This was probably my favorite piece in the park.
- The china town area was cool, and the trams bridge design looked great.
- The control tower painted on the side of the airfield building looked great and was executed to perfection. I didn't catch it at first glance, but I'm glad I did eventually because it blew me away, well done.
- Also those little stairs near the ferris airfield building, under the tram track was a great touch. I think the fact that it could only be seen by one angle makes it seem more realistic, like it doesn't matter if you can see it from every angle or not, it needs to be there. I might just be crazy though.
- I loved the paths throughout the park, with all the shapes and details, really great aspect of the park.
- You guys use those thin walls, poles and trim pieces to perfection on the architecture.
- There were some nice colors and variations on the architecture, although a little bit more would have made it even better.
Some things I didn't really care for-
-The sunken oak trees were a great idea, I just didn't like them. May be a different tree would have looked better.
- The park felt just too bare for me to really get into.
Corsair Veredian-
I didn't fully understand the theme here ( balloons and nature I know, but other than that.. May be its just me) but this park was awesome none the less. Very nice job guys.
Things I liked throughout the park:
- Ok, those tree trunks as columns or supports were plain brilliant. Not sure if it has been done before, but that was just sweet.
- The trackitecture throughout was well done
- All the tree house structures looked perfect imo and were a nice touch
- The inflating balloon was a great idea. Also the descending balloon, with the ropes to tie it off was nice.
- The little skyway sign caught my eye and had some nice details around it
- The castle near the mayor was well built. The red carpet at the entrance, along withe the open wooden door, and armor display came together to make it awesome.
- I really liked the architecture and bridge near the old gatehouse.
- Loved all the textures on the buildings, made them much more interesting imo.
- Loved the prototypus coaster, and how it was half water ride. I imagine it would be cool to ride in real life. Now we just have to wait for the real ride designers to make this ride.
- I like some of the bare spots you guys left on the landscape, like the red sand areas. It was a nice break from all the activity and details.
- The path interaction throughout the entire park was awesome. It really went well with the whole nature theme and how everything is 'connected'. Would be cool to actually walk around this park for sure.
If the voting period is extended I will cast a vote, but for now nice job guys. -

Alright I'll keep this explanation I had said I would post as short and as neutral as possible. I don't wanna cause any upset with this. I just hadn't really been able to conclude this chapter of my personal H2H experience which is why I wanted to explain some things.
Our park was never actually supposed to look like it does in the final build which is why some of the stuff in its relation to its surroundings isn't completely clear. In the end we just tried to get more content in and therefore had to look past the conceptual boundaries.
Considering how much land we could've filled in, I believe we didn't actually use half of it. This wasn't planned either, the whole map was layouted and there would've been way more little things and big attractions but in the end we just fell waaaay short of finishing so those things outside the tiles we filled now got deleted and even a lot of the stuff on the tiles that were built on in this version in my opinion wasn't done to its full potential.
The main reason for our failure to even get close to completing this wasn't actually problems with having too little time but the way I see it, it had more to do with the inability of our building team to agree on things (note: this is not a dig at anyone as I could for example have been part of the building team as well...so see it as a confession to our mistakes)
This inability to agree on plans basically can be summarized by mentioning that
- the original finals park that only one of the builders had done something on at that point was eventually scrapped as the other(s) didn't want it and just the entrance of it was kept...which is the reason why this had to become a Spanish Warner Bros Park.
- the new concept was by one of the other builders but while building this Warner Bros park the builders' ideas again varied so heavily that both the team spirit between the builders as well as the respect between them got almost completely destroyed. we had no lack of communication if you ask me, but our style of communicating apparently just wasn't good enough. I also wanna mention that instead of completing more of the map, almost all of the work of one of the builders got altered by the other(s). In the last week that builder was then completely unable to contribute due to private reasons (which he did announce a lot of times in the weeks before though...it wasn't something like lets say Magnus' multiple departures but just the inability to help due to being a 24/7 host to a friend from a foreign country).
...
(damn just got interupted for like 10 mins so I lost my flow )
...
The above is just a short summary. There are lots of other things that have happened that lets say could've went better in my opinion. I'm sad our teammates had to just watch our chances decline during the creation of this due to these conflicts and I hope we'll be able to make up for it in H2H7 (even if on a different team maybe ).
For me personally the park is not anywhere close to what I would have wanted it to be like. I will probably pick it up once I'm done with my exams in like 2 weeks and see if I can rework a bunch of things. But there might be multiple versions of this in the AD soon as I'm sure the other builder(s) wants to realize their plans for this as well.
I think this park had a lot of potential and I find it sad that we had to send a weak effort like this in.
Fairplay to HK though, you guys truly deserved to win h2h. Led by a reliable captain and showing solid performances every round...you definitely managed to stay consistent and impressed with different styles. -

Really tough matchup as I went back and forth many times to the point that I was not going to vote. That said:
I vote Heaven's Kitchen
Great job to both teams and a great season -

Congrats Heaven's Kitchen and Replacements on excellent seasons! You both should be proud. As the contest went on, these two teams shined just a little brighter than the others. -

Congrats replacements, and everyone, despite the poor-ness of this H2H in the community, I think it was just as strong in-game.

Congrats to Heavens Kitchen for the win of H2H6. You guys deserve the win. Your season was so impressive. You guys build the best parks this season.
I think Corsair Veredian was not your best park in this season but still a very good one. There was so much content in the park. Fantastic to watch through the park and see more and more details.
So congratulations to the winner of H2H6 Heavens Kitchen. -

Apologies for the length of this upcoming post, but I have a lot to say.
I'm very happy to have won this, I think overall we deserved the win. A really strong season, great team throughout, even with a couple of people disappearing, and many people stepped up and built their best stuff.
Replacements, I was so happy to see we were facing you guys in the final, as I think you had a really strong season as well. I loved all of your parks, and was really looking forward to seeing what you could get in for a final. Obviously there were issues with finishing your park for whatever reasons, which is sad to hear, but you still submitted a really strong park.
I loved the tram way. Reminded me of something I built with Corky many years ago for an H2H finals park that we never needed in the end, it was just so perfect. That whole section with the airfield and the vert coaster was my favourite bit I think.
I'll break down your park a bit more -
Rides - Both larger coasters were well placed, and seemed totally at home in their settings. While short, they were extremely fluid in their layouts, especially the Vert. Loved the ending to that ride, swooping around, under, then around and through the building. Supports on the Superman coaster were perfect, too. I know how much of a bitch supports can be, especially when everything is on the same line of squares. I really liked the blue coaster actually, with the water ride around it. Really nice setting for both rides, shame it wasn't finished. Brilliant use of landblocks.
Architecture - The strong point of this park, for sure. Totally believable throughout, really great textures, colours, rooves, shapes, forms, everything. Makes me upset I can't build like this. Highlights for me were the Chinese theatre, the circular building on the corner by the fountain, the entrance building and the fire station.
Foliage - Really good everywhere. Really great to see you trying new things, foliage wise. This is one of the things that makes me happiest about the game, and really elevates good parks to great ones. The sunken trees as bushes works really well actually. Suprisingly well. Also loved the wider bushes on the corners of the fountain, they look awesome. Also the tall thin trees used on the paths themselves work really well. Never liked these as part of wider foliage, but they work so well by themselves.
Atmosphere - Lovely. Warm, inviting, smooth transitions between areas, nothing looks out of place. This style of clean, ultra realistic parks isn't always my thing, but nin, you're one of the best for sure. Fisch, you've really stepped up your game this H2H, I actually can't wait to see a full park from you at this new level. Really looking forward to seeing two versions of this in the AD soon.
Overall, really great season from you, Replacements, from an underdog team largely. Seems some people like Cocoa, Fisch, trav, Dimi, Jonny massively improved, and got a lot out of working with each other. Nin, Dave, you've led the team by example and have built some awesome parks.
Might be hard for some of you to understand, but this is my 4th H2H, and none of the others have gone well, at all. My first one, I made half a park with muuuh, but bit off much more than I could chew, and we didn't finish. Then I started a finals park with Cork which would have actually been fantastic, and which is still shaping my view of this finals park, but we quit it when we didn't make the finals as a team. I was young.
H2H4, and I made Kukuana with RCTFAN, which to be fair was a bloody good park. But real life got in the way, and I could only make the one park. I had to pull out of the other park I was meant to build on (Venetian Harbour with John), and felt like I let the team down. Again, not the best competition for me.
H2H5, and once again life dictated that I could only build one park. Red River Delta with chapelz and Dimi actually turned out really well, and I enjoyed building with both of them. chapelz showed some awesome stylistic work in that park, and I really wanted to work with him again. But motivation was low, and so was free time. I planned a bloody good finals park, which turned into a solo effort when we were knocked out before the finals. A couple of months later, Myst was released. I have no doubt I could have finished it in time for the contest if i'd had to... I think i've shown that i'm bloody reliable when building to a deadline, and will always get something largely finished in. But still, another H2H where I didn't really shine.
And now this H2H. I really wanted to make this one my bitch. The whole team has stepped up and i've worked with some fantastic enthusiastic and productive builders. Both week 2 and week 4 parks were quite a way off the pace with two weeks to go until the deadlines. But we knuckled down and got it done, and in the process have made some of the best RCT i've ever been involved in. This has definitely been my best H2H by far. Loved it. Amen.
What can I say about our park? Corsair Veredian is a park i'm very proud of. It was disappointing that Steve couldn't build more, as I was really looking forward to working with him. But i'm so happy i've finally got to work with Liampie, one of the classiest builders on this site for sure. Just so reliable, motivated, fun to work with, full of awesome ideas, and with immense skills to back it up. I think it's a worthy finals park, even if it didn't turn out completely as i'd envisaged. Time constraints, as always.
I wanted more giant trees, with much more architecture in them; this was meant to be a primarily tree-dwelling settlement. However, I found out early on that giant trees are a bitch to make in RCT. And once you've made them, they're an absolute bitch to theme properly. And then you have to make buildings in them. With zero-clearances on. At height, so you're not sure where to start. And once you're done with all that, you have to put enough foliage on the top of them so that they don't look weird. Which only obscures the views of lots of other cool things in the park. So we limited the number, and made some architecture elsewhere, changed the focus somewhat. And i'm happy we did, because what we made was damn good. And the park still works as a whole, I think.
I wanted to make some big coasters. It's been a while since we've seen good large coasters, memorable ones. I think these count. Rides wise, this park is full of them. For people complaining about why the "Old Transit" mine train wasn't open, try opening it, and watch what happens to the peeps. THAT'S why it's not open. That's what you get when you hack rides and don't really understand what you're doing, I guess.
Also, Liam made that castle on top of the hill. One of the best things i've ever seen in RCT. Ridiculously awesome.
All that being said, i'm going to copy a post I made in our team forums the other day.
"It's been a blast guys. I'm retiring now. Just don't want to build any more RCT, I feel like the recognition for finishing something of a high quality is totally missing nowadays. It's gotten worse as this competition has gone on, people acting like entitled children, slating quality parks without thinking at all.
I feel like we've made some of the best RCT ever in this competition, as a website, and only two or three parks are actually being praised. The rest are "sloppy", "could be done better", this kind of thing. And most of these comments are coming from people who are submitting releases scoring 30-40%. Everyone's a critic.
I know, I know. Build for yourself and all that. But honestly, I get very little feeling from finishing a park these days, from realising a vision. Most of my reward comes from the external praise and comments of people i've spent years and years on this website with, who's opinions and views I value. That's why this contest was such a good thing for me... I've been building this Disney solo park now for probably two years, and i'm only 40-50% done. My internal motivation to build it is lacking totally. This contest gave me an excuse to really play the game like I haven't done in years, perhaps ever. There's nothing like the feeling of an approaching deadline and the thought of letting your teammates and fellow builders down to make you open RCT and really play it for hours on end. And that's when I make all of my best work, I think. Inspiration be damned.
But now it's over. I'm not going to set myself a deadline for finishing this Disney park. It wouldn't be the same, anyway. I look at this work, and most of it is so far from the standard of work being released today, so far even from the work i've done in this very competition. I just don't want to build on it.
Architecturally, the game has moved on. I remember feeling this way when quarter tile scenery became detailed enough to pull the trend away from windows on walls. And now we've moved on again, to incorporate 1/8th, 1/16th thickness walls, deco detailing, individual bricks on walls. Building one small thing takes so long now to get it to an "acceptable" level, it's just lost its fun, for me.
Ride wise I was never the strongest, by a long shot, but i've made some nice rides over the years. But this competition has really highlighted another trend - the move away from interesting rides. Apparantly small rides are the way to go, now. I'm trying to think of memorable rides from this year, and it's difficult. The woodie from Edda. Galaxy Geeland was very good, actually. Invert in Siege of Jerusalem. Not much else, at all though. Most of the parks have been realistic, and the only way to make a realistic coaster is to make it fit the architecture, which is small. This might just be a Bah Humbug moment, though.
What it all comes down to, is that I don't feel I can keep up with the standard these days, and I hate being second best at anything. My inspiration for the game has completely dried up, as you may have noticed during the season. The attitude of a lot of people on the forums is too negative, and I feel like even when I make a park which I think personally is quite excellent, I get comments like "lacks refinement", "this park did nothing at all for me", "too messy", "final-unworthy", "boring", "architecture not as good as I could have hoped". Now in days gone by, maybe my personal inspiration and motivation would have allowed me to sweep these comments under the carpet, and ignore them. Obviously my motivations have changed. Clearly you can't please all the people all the time, but the general attitude of people is definitely much more negative than it used to be.
So all in all, mixed feelings. But at least I can say that i've helped an H2H team to a victorious season with the majority of work done on three parks. I really feel like I pulled my weight and contributed at least as much as anyone else in this competition. Personally, that makes me happy, and you guys have all been brilliant. A very good note to leave on.
Best of luck with everything you do, blokes. See you around." -

Heaven's Kitchen:
I bet Liam was sure he would go through anyway and their (possible) finals park will consist out of Steve, Turtle and Liam.
okay that last one was rather wrong, but i was pretty sure with predicting HK's players.I wanna predict, now I know which players build neverland, that nin and That Guy will have build the finals park along with Fisch or ivo.
Turtle, it's honestly a shame that one of the best players this community has feels like he's second best at something. You're an atmospherical genius and I think your team has shown this season that atmosphere wins you things. You're truly a brilliant player and I hope you'll rethink the part of quitting rct. At least try to reappear in a possible h2h7 ;p.
Heaven's Kitchen, you were a brilliant team and you deserve the win for sure. I may have been ''critic'' on your work during the season but the same thing goes for all your parks which is that they grow on me. The more I look at your parks, the more I like them. Where at first Corsair barely did anything to me, it's now a really enjoyable park which is definitely worthy of the finals and gives you a deserved win.
Replacements, you were amazing and I hope to see more work from all of you! That's kind of all I have to say. Your parks were brilliant this season from first sight to now looking back at them all. -

Jem, I think I could have wrote that italic text.. I feel the same about the way my parks were commented on this H2H. I felt it really was my best work to date and it got hammered down (mostly) by everyone, especially "newer" members which I've yet to see work on this site from.
It got to the point where I got really frustrated and started to comment negatively towards other parks as well, and your finals park might have become victim of my frustration about all the negative comments especially Rowling Versus Tolkien received. I still think you're one of the best players on this site currently, and I rated you second of all the players this h2h, so I hate to see this being your last rct2 work. I don't really care for all the detailedness in recent rct2 work; Atmosphere is key for me. That's why Le Rêve Parapluie, together with DAW, is the best piece of rct(2) I've ever seen. I know what you did in Le Rêve and it's just really awesome, something to be really proud of. CV and Monstrocity were great as well tho.
Anyway, I feel the same as you, and I don't think I'll ever be releasing a rct2 park anymore. I've found some exiting rct3 stuff which is really inspiring to me and I wish to dive more deeply into, but as this site isn't really supporting rct3 I think I'll be more active on sites like SGW.. Maybe I'll post some screens here and see how it's being received tho, as I feel some members are still open for rct3. (I remember you posting some great rct3 screens too Jem )..
Anyway, sorry for rambling on here, it was a great H2H season again overall, and it's one of the better finals parks we had definitely. Remember that past H2H seasons had unfinished parks or forfeits, which imo is worse to end on.
Congrats HK, you were definitely the best team this season, and maybe even of all H2Hs I've experienced! -

Turtle - I think you are my favorite player of all time now. Bijou Magique, Isole Calabria, Starflight, Myst, Monstrocity, Le RĂªve Parapluie, and Corsair Veridian are my favorites of yours, and each of them has this "Turtle magic". I'm sad to see you go, but it's been a blast watching you build.
Six Frags & other builders in H2H6 - I'm sorry if I came off negative during a couple reviews (specifically Rowling V Tolkien). I seriously loved almost every park in the contest and I'm glad to have been a part of it (as a viewer). I would have loved to see H2H6 done 6 years ago, at the peak of NE hype and traffic. Congrats to all the builders in H2H6, I greatly appreciate what you've done.
Congrats to HK, definitely deserved it! 5 mindblowingly amazing parks, and 2 unique parks. Turtle and PC are obviously the mvps of this team. -

no turtle, six frags, don't leave... we've lost too many people this h2h . fr3ak and gee too. At least you guys are going out on a very high note, and leaving an amazing legacy. But I can totally understand what you were saying, and hopefully this new generation will step up to fill the voids in the community.
and congrats heaven's kitchen, you guys are seriously one of the greatest h2h teams. probably since the hurricanes that made shadowlands. and the no-loss whzz kids (well, almost no loss...) -

^ Don't forget Milo. And there's a number of others considering quitting too (I'll admit I'm having thoughts of retirement, just don't have time or a consistent, internal passion to play... I agree with all of Turtle's italicized text and am pretty sure I've written something similar to someone before.)
