Try taking the game's default lamps and adding that glow effect around them.. I'd be interested to see if that looked good. -

Wow, I seriously had no idea there was these replies. I was actually just kind of tossing out some random stuff I was dabbling with recently. I'm just really having a hell of a time dedicating myself to one single project or theme since i have so many things I'd like to try, but extremely limited time some days. I've always been that way though. Start something one day, think of something else I like, start that and kind of forget what else I was already working on LOL.Now we're getting somewhere! That skull is pretty good. I can see that getting used. Don't bother making torches, we have plenty already. Have you considered making rides?
Thanks so much Liampie. I really wish I could have done something a little bit more original as I feel I kind of just brought back an idea that was already in the game. Lots of others ways to do the skulls though so more room for creativity on that. I'll definitely ditch the torch ideas. It was more just a practice with animating flames to begin with and I never even intended to make an actual object but figured I might as well give it away for all the work it took.
As far as ride making goes, I'm kind of waiting for a while when I have more time on my hands for that kind of dedication. After I took on that project last year with the spinning ride and realizing the hundreds of rendered frames and time it took to get that far, I'm going to need a better idea and design before just randomly coming up with something. Yes, I do eventually want to do something along the lines of rides again when my head is in a better place lol.I would really love a some new Halloween stuff. A good standing skeleton would also be nice. And if you need a tester I would love to do it.
I will definitely take note of that. I got some other animated skeleton ideas I'd like to try and if you would like to test when I finish, you're more than welcome. />Love the skull and pumpkin, heck I used the pumpkin in my H2H6 park last summer.
Thanks so much Fizzix. The tiny pumpkins here are actually different from the one I originally posted last year when I first came on the forums. These are smaller, non-animated, and different rendering technique. I really do appreciate you using my objects and glad you found good use for them. />/>/> />/> />/> />/> So gooood!!!
Many thanks and glad you like it. />Those lamps are hideous btw. I know that's harsh, but they really do look awful.
Ahhh, it's ok. I'll take a punch to the face for the lamp LOL. Just kidding, but honestly, it was a 10 minute job in the start as I focused more on trying to figure out the glow technique. I would like to go back and make more serious, less ugly types of lamps some day.
Thanks so much for the honest input, seriously. I need it.Try taking the game's default lamps and adding that glow effect around them.. I'd be interested to see if that looked good.
Good idea. I might even have to have a go at that one. /> -

Decided to try the idea from Luketh with one of the default lamps, make it a quarter tile object and glow, and this is what I came up with. I posted the ZIP in the first post of this thread so if anyone actually wants it. Glow and pole are separately colorable.

I agree with inthemanual; a smaller glow would be less distracting.
Is it possible to make those lamps in a version that actually attaches to paths as well? -
render8 Offline
Thanks guys. As far as attaching to the path, I don't think it's possible only because it's technically a glass object and I haven't figured out a way to make a path object as glass. Maybe someone knows something I don't.
I'm actually still working on this trying to come up with a less distracting way to make the glow. I think I jumped on releasing it a bit too soon, but I guess it's better to get the feedback on it now and fix it before I call it quits.
Thanks so much again everyone who does check this stuff out for me and give me honest input. Really means a lot.
EDIT - another little snip of some new work on it. Tried to make the glow a little less large and form a bit better around the lights themselves.

Each pic looks better than the last. Would it look odd if it were made as a wall object, thus able to be placed on paths? -
Luketh Offline
Oh yeah man, that looks a lot better.
Again I have to agree with inthemanual. We already know that glass walls are possible, see if you can make the lamp a wall! I could certainly use this thing in a park; I especially like how the aura of light is colorable because it allows a variety of moods to be set with different colors of light. -

Ok, went back and tried it as a wall object this time and seems to have worked out better than I thought at first. Seems nice now that it actually attaches to the path itself. I guess there's so many ways to actually make this with half tile, quarter tile, wall, etc. it was just getting hard to settle on one way and I didn't want to release a dozen different versions of this lamp with each one being different and confusing the crap out of everyone.
Same deal though as the other takes, the light and pole are different colors.

Just wanted to throw in a couple more screens of some spooky type stuff I'm still plugging away at. Attempting some type of strobing pumpkin and working on a standing skeleton. Just works in progress and could possibly change. I'm just trying to keep ideas flowing to get a nice collection of stuff to release.
These damn skeletons are really hard to make look good and keep at a good size.
I'm also tossing around some ideas for halloween/spooky themed architecture stuff, so you may see some random ideas thrown out from time to time as well. Sorry for all the random screen caps. Just seems to help me keep things moving and motivated. -

Thanks guys. I updated the first post with the finalized lamp. I had to make a few minor adjustments that were bugging me but the pic I posted for it in the first post is how they actually look now. -

I think it would be pretty sweet if you made some kind of strobe light. Would be cool for dark rides.
