Nice! Yeah, I've been meaning to stay there soon. Although my girlfriend is really leaning towards Wilderness Lodge next time we go up, so we'll see. Gotta make use of my 60% room discount;]

Haha JJ, one of these days maybe!

My sister worked for Disney. Had to leave cause her roommates dropped out on her and she couldn't pay the rent on her apartment by herself. So sad... I didn't even get to take advantage of the discounts :(

Thats a bummer dude! Was it their college program? Its such an unbelievable ripoff to be honest. Disney has you working for them, and requires you to live in their dorms/apartments, and yet requires you to pay rent. So most of your paycheck goes right back to them! At least from what I've gathered anyways.

    The discounts are fantastic though:]

If by rent, you mean "Housing Fees" than yes, it is kinda a ripoff when you have 6 people paying $85/week on a 3 bedroom apartment, and those are the cheapest. Disney and Coca-Cola (which leases the land/apartments) to Disney, but Disney can't charge rent, so they instead charge "housing fees." As for the College Program, if you want your foot in the door, and don't mind not being paid much, I highly recommend it. I did Fall Advantage 2011 and absolutely loved it. Made some great friends that I still talk to. Oh and as Josh said, the discounts are pretty good, even for CPs (more Main Gates would've been nice, but I can't argue that)

She started with their college program, but this was after she graduated. She moved down to Orlando with a few friends who were also Disney employees and got an apartment a few minutes from the parks. However, her roommates dropped and left, leaving her to pay for the apartment entirely by herself, and she wasn't able to get enough hours to even pay rent. Sucks, but she knew she didn't want to work for Disney her whole life, so it was sort of bittersweet for her.

Really, that's considered expensive in America? I pay £92 per week for my Uni accommodation which is equivalent to $141.

I wish I was only paying $85 a week, that sounds amazing.
  • Dark_Horse%s's Photo
When I lived in University housing, it was about $160/week (included utilities) for a shared dorm room. My 2-bedroom apartment now is about $90/week plus utilities (which are usually about a $75 split).

Also, when you get paid $7.33/hour (or less), $85 is kinda steep.

Don't forget though, the way loans and stuff work in america is different. A student loan for them is more like a mortgage, while to us it's more like a tax. Not that, that is entirely relevant here lol. (in fact it's not at all, so ignore my randomness)

I'm gonna guess either Corona/Riverside or Ontario/R.Cucamonga areas?

Not that far out. I'm in West Covina. It should be around 30 minutes from DTLA but there is always traffic so it's about 45 minutes from DT.

I live in Fort Collins, CO, which is pretty desolate in terms of parks and RCT. The closest park is Hyland Hills Water World, about 45 minutes south. During the two summers when I worked at Elitch Gardens, I stayed with my family in Golden since that is much closer to Denver. Only RCTers I know here are a couple friends from work who barely ever play much.

New guy here from Brunssum in the Netherlands. wich is near some good parks like Phantasialand & Moviepark Germany and Bobbejaanland. and only to imagine that Disneyland could have been in this area, but unfortunately they decided to build it in Paris, not complaining its just around 5 hours driving from my place

Yeah..know exactly where that is. I grew up in Covina. Back then, 45 minutes would get you at least to Ontario.
