RCT Discussion / Help regarding Scenario Editor

    Right guys,
I am currently in the process of designing my own park on RCT2. I have downloaded many parks off this website in order to get some custom scenery. However, whenever I go to click on the 'Object Selection Small Scenery' tab in the scenario editor, it doesn't let me scroll down to select objects, its just stuck. It lets me scroll down on the other tabs just not Small Scenery. I'm not sure if the problem is due to me downloading too many parks or whatever but does anybody have any idea on what I can do? I've tried uninstalling it and re installing but that hasn't made any difference.
    PLEASE HELP! x

You have too many objects in your ObjData folder. You'll need to clean it up a bit by deleting some dats.

How do I do that? I've tried deleting parks from my downloads folder but it doesnt seem to have made any difference

Ive had that as well a while ago. The problem is that there are too many objects in the obj.data list , i believe 5000 is max but i'm not sure. You will have to remove objects from the list in order to get it functional again.

There also is the option to add objects to the park later with a tool called "ParkDat". There should be some explanations for that around here somewhere, your best bet is to just perform a search for it.

EDIT: You delete objects directly from the ObjData folder (...\Rollercoaster Tycoon 2\ObjData). You have to make sure, however, that you don't delete objects that came with the game.

Thanks for your advice everyone but how do I actually go about deleting some of the Objects? Like I said, I've tried deleting the actual parks I've downloaded from my 'Downloads' file in my documents but it hasn't helped.

    Edit: Thanks Casimir

No ,that won't work. You will have to go into the rct2 folder and then you'll need to open the obj.data folder. There you will have to remove items, but be carefull removing the wrong items will screw up your game.

This might sound incredibly stupid, but, how do I go into the folder?! Do I have to go into 'Infogrames' in my start up menu? Also, when re installing the game, would it help if I changed the difficulty thingy from recommended to custom?

You will have to go to 'computer' then you go to C: (where it's probably installed) under the name infogrames (rct2). Then you should be in the map where rct2 is installed.
There you also have the map named obj.data ,it will be a difficult job to manually delete objects. So my advice is uninstal the game and manually empty the rct2 folder for the rest that remains. Then install and don't download too many parks.

My Computer, C: (Hard Disk Drive), Program Files, Infogrames, RollerCoaster Tycoon 2, ObjData

Then you delete files in that folder, but note if you delete an object that comes with the game you'll need to re-install.
