to bad trav isn't chosen as captain. think that would have made for a better season. cause now we have a lot of captains which will try to do the same thing.
but oh well we will see.

Sorry Levis! I think I'd have made for a more interesting season too, hopefully Kong or someone will take a more fantasy/semi-realism route than the rest instead.
  • Liampie%s's Photo
I'm always semi-realism. I don't care much for ultrarealism unless it's REALLY well done (anything geewhzz, RRP, Robbie or CP6). Especially during contests, you can't show up with a generic park! That's not done. Themes and atmosphere is what wins you matches. Not with having the most detailed airco units or backstage containers.

    Not done.

How is an LL team going to be realistic? I mean cmon Realism is very hard to pull off in LL. We will be taking a semi-realistic approach, of course depending on the builders.
  • JJ%s's Photo
Umm, only one of those people would be all that realistic, and out of them that's nin. All the others styles aren't realistic at all. O.o. I can see a lot of variation myself.

Come to think of it Louis!, you should abuse your powers as an admin to change your name to LLouis! for H2H :p

I agree with Liam though, I won't check all the H2H parks to see if they have enough airco units and such. It just has to look good, and needs atmosphere.

Ugh, people already painting "generic" realism as a curse word for H2H. Can people not recall that, arguably, the two standout parks from last season were some of the most realistic parks NE has ever seen? I'm sure we can get a few good realistic parkmakers on this site to blow us away with a beautiful realistic park. Don't count us out...
  • Liampie%s's Photo
Belmont Shores and Lenox Mall were not generic, they had a clear concept. They were ultrarealistic though, and as I said I love ultrarealism when it's REALLY well done. Kidderbrook falls short. Renaview would've been incredibly boring if it didn't have that brilliant (and well executed) twist. I don't count you out.

But I prefer to see new concepts, be amazed and surprised. I hope you'll do themes Robbie, if you do that you can win any match.

Looking forward to the draft, no accolades yet in many years but hopefully folks see the potential. :mantis:

message out to the captains... most likely i actually sadly wont be available as much as i first thought i would. im guessing i wont be able to contribute much this time around.

Sorry for my over-exuberant post. It was 4AM after a night out with the boys and I was a bit excited since I had sincere doubts that I'd be picked as captain. Plus, well....you know I can't help but talk shit during an event like this. Although I am gonna try to keep it to a minimum this time around.

I certainly didn't mean any disrespect to any of the other captains as I'm sure they're all just as well prepared and capable as I am for this.

That being said.....bring it, bitches Posted Image

Kumba Posted Image nin Posted Image Liampie Posted Image Louis! Posted Image Magnus Posted Image K0NG

    :(

Well, I guess it's a good thing I didn't get picked. It's actually looking like I won't have the time I thought I would for this contest since it looks like I'll be busier than I thought I'd be. Congratulations to the captains! Looking forward to this.

Yeah, I learned last H2H that if you're gonna go realistic it sort of needs to be amazing or have some kind of new concept thrown in. The maps are just too small to get away with building a normal amusement park and winning. I'm still somewhat proud of Kidderbrook but I would never recommend a park like that during H2H again; unless it was by robbie, CP6, gee, etc...

Steve, it was a tought choice who should get the last Captain spot. We went with nin though as we felt we knew how determined he was and that he had the time to build. Six Frags has just re-appeared and we were worried that he may not be 'ready' to captain again, and we felt that because you were a last minute sign up for playing captain that maybe you weren't as motivated as nin was, who instantly knew he wanted to captain.

I completely agree with this. Also, generic isn't the same as realistic and shouldn't be used in the same way. And Robbie, I really like your generic work, but the (realistic) theming you've showed is just way more amazing.

I can't wait for the draft and the start of the contest!

The captains have agreed to meet for the draft on Posted Image Wednesday 28 Mar - 20:30 GMT // equals 21:30 (CET) - 15:30 (EST) - 12:30 (PST)

Everyone is welcome to come and watch the procedure. It will be held in NE'S IRC channel which we used for the Awards already. We will open it at ~20:00 GMT. Unfortunately, only captains will have voice rights, so if you decide to come it would be as a spectator. This is to ensure that the draft goes smoothly.

The order who gets to pick first is determined by the captain's HoF rank, where the highest ranking player (Kumba) picks last. Kumba also has to pick last though because he is the defending champion of H2H5. The order is thus:

    1st pick: nin
    2nd pick: K0NG
    3rd pick: Magnus
    4th pick: Louis!
    5th pick: Liampie
    6th pick: Kumba

This comprises one round. We will employ a serpentine draft style as always, meaning after each round the order is reversed so that in round 2 Kumba gets to pick first followed by Liampie and so forth. As they are all playing captains, 54 players must be drafted in a total of 9 rounds. After the draft, captains have the chance to trade players. Once the Team Roster is finalised we will announce it in this topic and open the private team forums.

That's all for now. See you at the draft!

ok...nin is the lucky one who'll get geewhzz...
  • Cena%s's Photo
    Why geewhzz as first pick?

I mean, since H2H5 I haven't a screen in the AD from him. Plus as far as theming there are other ones that are better (robbie, 5dave) and hacking as well (levis). Plus he is probably rusty as hell.

My first pick would be someone else. Based on the above stated opinion.
Just curious why you would chose him Prodigy.

My first pick would have been Cocoa if I'd have been a captain lol

As if geewhzz was that active before H2H5. The last thing I've seen by him before H2H5 was El Encierro in January 2008.

Theming skills are irrelevant in your comparison. Geewhzz talent is making environments so realistic, it's scary. Robbie, RRP or 5Dave can't do that like him. Also who cares about hacking? Do you really think Levis will get drafted earlier Geewhzz just because he invented the thrill lift? It was geewhzz who first used that hack in a park where the hack itself wasn't the goal.
