10 years is a long time for a game fan site. NE is more than a fan site; it is, like others have already said, a way to share an art form. I never would have played a tycoon game for hours on end, but building a theme park on a blank canvas that I could share with others and receive feedback is what kept me playing this game. I have played many other games but I have no other experiences like the one here. I've always enjoyed theme parks and I've always enjoyed being creative, NE is the perfect collection of the two.
I'm glad to have had the experience. Thanks to those who continue to keep the site running so others can have the same experience! -

Been here for 5 years signed up after Lurking for abit.
Remember building my first park, a pretty decent rip off of CP6's Mountain Park, as at the time id never seen such work, i just wanted to build my own version. Then Canthose came out and i just died inside, it was so good i just couldnt help my self, i tried so hard to be like 5Dave, and mainly the best players.
Eventually i realised that people were right, creating your own work is the greatest thing. The people here inspired me to change myself to build something different, and some people enjoyed it. Thats the best thing, everyone likes something, so no matter who you are, someone bound to like your work. The words spoken by Steve in regards to my first park was, its nice but its not yours. So i changed, hopefully..... for the best.
I got more amped to build whenever i could really, getting pumped to see new things. 2009 i guess was the best year for RCT for me, with PT3 and what not, great releases coming out left right and centre. Then next years 2009-2011 are easily in my eyes the best years, mainly because i witnessed it but mainly because from what had been released RCT had just been pushed further into what was probably considered the impossible back in say '04 for example.
So yeah, hopefully we can be celebrating the 20 year anniversary of NE, if the world doesnt explode or something unfortunate like that.
Cheers all, best site, and the only site i have pinned on my chrome task bar.

Not meaning to rush anyone, but are we not meant to have the 'Best RCT2 Player' award yet? -

It's coming. We are just a bit behind what with H2H6 being the current focus and the downtime we had. -

NE it's the best fansite of RCT that I ever meet! The community it's helpful and really nice, the site couldn't be more easy to use and the parks that the people submit, are the best parks of RCT! We have amazing creators of parks, layouts, logos, etc... Ne it's one of my favorite hobbys! Everyday I think: I have to go to the facebook, listen some new musics, play rct2, and off course, go to NE! I love NE!

Hard to believe I've been a registered use for 10 years! Don't post as much as I used to, but NE definitely has been a starting ground for Enchanted Elements! -

I suppose I'm obligated to post old things, having joined a month after launch in 2002. ... I don't remember anything, I was 12.
Actually I remember posting an incredibly embarrassing attempt at a rap when Fatha held battles once. Thank heavens that's lost to the annals of the internet.
I generally like Nevis' stuff, natelox seemed a little highbrow but DDI was something I spent a few hours exploring.
The first H2H was definitely crazy space-age black magic; I can't believe the stuff that got accomplished before codex. At the time I had really just figured out how to merge, and a spotlight was an insurmountably huge pile of park.
The AD has always been the heart of NE, and it kind of sucks to see it so dead. Lots of work is done behind closed doors now, and there isn't much to show in screens anyway; I feel like detail work is just as laborious (if not more so) than it has ever been, since the bar is irreversibly higher than ever. I can't complain too much, being probably the least productive ten-year member still active. Still, I'd have to say that the Database tells an incomplete story. The AD and the hype following parks and parkmakers always carried a broader influence than releases; plenty of very influential parkmakers have outputs on paper that don't nearly indicate how impactful their work was, even if it was a single park. -

Wow, so many great memories, I think I'll have to be a little more active and make some memories of my own, although I've only recently created an account.
Happy 10th NE -

Going on 9 years here, this place has changed both so much and so little. I remember questioning joining in the first place, thinking forums were stupid and all I wanted to do was play the game, back when folks were in awe of any coaster that was merged, and Toon's 1/4 tile blocks were the new fangled thing. The level of detail necessary for the community to be impressed has grown so much that its a miracle anyone can finish any project anymore. The positive side of this is that it has cemented NE in its place as setting the bar for what can be done with some old computer game. For most of us this old computer game is a thing which we can always return to, a memory of simple days of childhood, and an escape from the rigorous demands of adulthood. I am happy that I have had the opportunity to share nearly the entire second half of my life with great people who share a common love: NE, roller coasters, and the game that makes them look funny.
