It's yet another bandwagon. There has been instability in Africa for centuries. Hell, before Europeans decided to waltz in, there was still regular tribal warfare. Anyone who thinks that Joseph Kony is the cause of all bad things in Africa...
Well, they should spend more time learning and less time on facebook reading every status about Kony/watching random youtube videos all day and happening upon "KONY 2012."
Also, I second Dr. Dude. -

Doesn't mean you should keep on ignoring the issue and doing nothing about it. Sure, there's probably not much we can (and arguably should) do in terms of intervention, but just because there has been instability for a long time doesn't mean that we are in the right for ignoring it. I applaud Invisible Children for bringing one of these issues into the light for so many people; even if that's all they did well, it's still an accomplishment. -

I certainly do not think it should be ignored. I didn't even watch the video. I researched Joseph Kony himself, in search of a more neutral source. I never knew who he was until today, but I have known what is going on in Africa. I feel like the modern world has a responsibility to bring Africa up to par with it. But no charity has the power to do that. It'll take a supranational effort. It won't be any time soon. But I don't advocate the ignorance of the issue. And you and I both know that our own politicians are too busy lusting after their next term to do anything about Africa. -

Hey guys, I've been searching around for a progress report on those 100 or so troops we sent over there in October of last year, does anyone know where I can find such a thing? Are they still there? -

Fucking idealistic hipsters running around complaining and sticking stickers and shit all over the place. If these hundreds of thousands of people want it so badly how about they enlist in the military and go over to Africa and teach the Ugandan army how to use the 'necessary technology' themselves. It'd mean a lot more for Obama to hear from within the military that they want to take action compared to getting annoying phone calls all day from people who have been occupying the country for the past 6 months
Seriously, it breaks my heart to see what's going on over there. And if I could donate money that would go directly to a family affected by this I would, but I'm not gonna donate money so the people of America can go running around with stickers acting like they're doing something with their life and feeling good about themselves. That's not taking action
Unfortunately, I don't have the balls to give my life to the military but clearly these people don't either. Pretty much everybody I know that has joined the military has done it to protect this country and keep our citizen's safe, especially after 9/11, and they're willing to risk their lives for that. These hipsters need to stop making these soldiers decisions for them and telling them here from their safe homes in America that they should go help Africa
Jeeze I get so worked up about these kind of people but I'll stop there in an attempt not to insult too many people here -

I just want to clarify that I have never, nor will I ever enlist, employ or otherwise abuse children in any fashion...whether I can see them or not. Furthermore, I have never so much as set foot onto Ugandan soil. Meanwhile, the K0NG 2012 campaign is a listed 501c(3) charitable organization so all of your donations will provide you with the maximum tax benefits allowed by law.
