Been scoping the forums pretty much from a distance for a while now and have downloaded so many parks from the NE that I couldn't count them (in hopes of learning something, and improving). I feel like I am getting better and have some ideas that could translate into something that someone might like. So now it's time to build on those ideas and try to turn them into reality.
First, let me say I'm not new to RCT. I bought it the first week it was on the shelf and have fiddled with it numerous times over the years. That being said, I have really only ever focused on playing the in game scenarios because, well, that's how you play a game, right? No. That's lame - don't do that. In case you want to. In which case, do, it's your game and you can play it how ever the hell you want. But, I digress.
My goal has always been to jam as much as possible into a tiny package. Min/maxing works in most games and I think of myself as a very efficient person in most things I do. Sadly, it makes a theme park look like garbage if you do that (at least to the degree that I did, seriously we are talking like beating Crazy Castle only using like a 20x20 square).
I'm trying to expand and stretch out my layouts and find myself struggling with spacing around track stations. Through researching the site, I have already learned to not put my coasters on the ground anymore (boy that looks better), my custom supporting has improved, and the no-nos of what scenery not to use (namely WW and TT), as well as numerous other lessons, simply from observation and trial and error. My question is, as I start my first attempt at a submittable track design, what are the universal truths of having a successful design regarding spacing of objects, tracks, pathing interaction (this is a big one), and architecture? Are there any tips or strategies I can observe to help make my design look clean while at the same time taking them out of the game and into my own little world (That doesn't sound cheesy at all)?
I know the question is a little vague, but I'm pretty much just asking for any advice regarding spacing. If it helps, my design is a floor-less coaster that will have Asian theming, a couple of custom flats, a snack area, and some hackery, though I'm still a rookie when it comes to hacking. I have a layout I like, but want to get some more work done on it before taking or showing any screens as it isn't just right...yet.
Thanks in advance for any help! -

Yes, I do have them, but have only recently learned to, as KONG would put it: "avoid them like the plague." Though if I'm not mistaken, much of the Asian theming is from an expansion. I do want to use the Asian pagoda-looking roof tiles, though. -

There's a bit of scenery from the expansions that has been 'converted' to custom, including the Pagoda roof pieces. If you've downloaded a shitload of parks from here, I'm sure you have them already. -

also a lot of rides are converted as well, but i don't have them.
The point is RCT-2 Says with Expansion packs and a lot of customs technicly: Hey there is too much of them.
So you can't Scroll to be selective.
That's why Kong said to avoid the Expansion Packs. -

That makes sense, I was a little overwhelmed with the sheer magnitude of selections available with all the parks I downloaded and the expansion scenery. Thanks for the help!
How about my question on spacing of scenery, paths, and tracks? Is there any golden rule to obey, or is it more of a case to case basis depending on what looks right? -

Ifi understand you right on the last question: Don't follow any rule just build shit you want to build and Create your own inmagination, Think much Further than RCT-2 originally goes, and Create your own world in a map. Just like Autism like i have, But then ingame -

Fair enough. I uninstalled the expansions, by the way. Though I'm a little frustrated.
I just spent 2 hours picking, planning, and setting up my bench for my project...and then when I tried to load it the red box came up saying "Cannot load: requires Wacky Worlds expansion." Grr.
So, uninstalled everything and wiped the folders from the hard drive, reinstalled RCT2 ONLY, and am going to have to re-download the parks I had before in hopes of finding all the customs I planned on using. That will have to wait till tonight though, as I am uber busy for the rest of the day with work (damn work taking away from my RCT2 time).
I should be good as far as WW and TT if I erased and reinstalled everything though, right? I hope I'm not forgetting anything. -

or just download my object data folder in the link.
You can also use Parkdat.exe to remove the WW and TT Objects from your workbench so your work isn't for nothing. -

The ObjData folder is the folder were your flatrides, Coasters and scenery is set.
All the files in there, let you see walls, windows, roofs, Flatrides,Coasters, Rides.
Also you have to put all your custom content in that folder because it's the main folder for rides and scenery.
Without a ObjData folder, you shouldn't able to load rides into your parks.
and you're not Able to load scenery.
Do you get it? -

Uninstalled RCT2 and the expansions from my computer this weekend (finally had time to work on it a little bit after taking the marching band I teach to Six Flags). I downloaded Flaps Objdata folder and then I fired the scenario editor back up and started selecting items for my bench. Tried to save the scenario and lo' and behold...still won't save. It's acting like it has WW or TT files, and I'm not sure if it does or doesn't or even can for that matter without WW or TT installed. Is there something I'm forgetting or don't know about? -

What is the title of the directory on the C Drive? I thought I had, but I will run a search and make sure.
Offtopic as well: I teach high school marching band and marched in numerous ensembles including the University of Tennessee Pride of the Southland Band and the Cincinnati Glory Drum and Bugle Corps. That is awesome that you march corps! Good luck next Saturday, I'll be pulling for you. -

c:/program files /infrogames /roller coaster tycoon 2
Delete the part after the program files map or you have to reinstall windows.
Also make sure that in your configuration tools, programs and features that your registry would be deleted by that and if that doesn't work clean up your registry by CCleaner.
You can do it yourself on Regedit.exe but that part is verry tricky, so i don't want to recommend you to make changes in your Register on your own.
