To be honest, how many design wins do we want to see using the same layout? After all there were 30+ entrants, what if everybody who didn't enter finished something and submit it competitively? I think if someone has a good start on something, than maybe they should try and put in a different coaster and submit it as a competitive entry then! -

Isn't there going to be multiple design wins (due to quality) from this contest, judging by the current scores. Yet only one contest winner (highest voted)?
If so the chance to enter and win the contest has already passed. I dont see why anything submitted after shouldn't be treated as anything other than a regular submission. Personally i dont care about the points, but would be interested seeing how the 'late submissions' rank against previous design entries (non contest).
As for multiple design wins with the same layout.Wait until you see the entries. Theres so much variety that you barely notice that they all share 1 single feature -

Especially after K0NG created such a hype about his entry and then let everyone down I don't really feel like rewarding him.
How the FUCK did I "create such a hype" about anything? I made ONE FUCKING POST, in reply to RRP saying "Kong you can add what you want. You wont finish in time" saying that not only would I finish, but do some serious fucking damage as well in order to shut people up about me not finishing. ONE FUCKING POST .Before that...not a single word about my entry. After that...not one single word except to say that the "castle" was just a small part of what I had going.
While I realize, and almost appreciate the fact that you somehow see me as some larger-than-life figure and therefore consider one post in response to someone taking a dig at me as "creating such a hype" I think you've once again blown shit totally out of proportion here, Mein Fuhrer.
Plus, I've seen numerous, prior unfinished contest entries subsequently submitted for, and receiving accolades. But, I guess this is some new fucking rule you've created simply because it involves me this time, right?
Ya know...people hating with all the "I told you so/are you surprised?/I called it" bullshit really doesn't bother me any more. I'm used to it. But, I have to admit that constantly seeing it beforehand every time is annoying as fuck. It changes my entire mental outlook on building from "build cool shit" to "I HAVE to finish this just to shut people up". I even cut off a decent portion of what I'd built on this in a fervent attempt to finish and not "let everyone down" even though I knew that by doing so, I'd pretty much removed any chance I had of winning. A fucking black hole right in the middle of the midway (where I had no way of just hiding it) hours before the deadline ensured that. And now I read that all the work I (and anyone else that couldn't finish in time) put in is for naught because the new "K0NG rule" is in effect.
If it were Louis or gee saying this I'd ask them to please reconsider....but, considering the source, I'll just call it what it is...a fucking crock of shit. -

I actually screencapped that, because I really think you deserve some alone time for that bullshit.
Oh and - boohoo. Welcome to earth. Get yourself a cookie.
Ontopic:
I'm still not very cool with seeing the same track layout x times on the front page. We have to clearly separate this contest from the usual accolade businnes, imho. As I see it (please correct me if I'm wrong), submitting the designs was only a way to take advantage of our well-thought-out preparation system -

well speaking for my part. a design needs to give something special. so the first one to submit might get a design worthy score but the rest wont cause its completly the same lay-out. unless they show they did something special with it.
probally the first one wont already get a design worthy score from me cause we've seen the lay-out before.
if you reused a lay-out from an other park you probally wont win a design either so if they have to be treated like normal they would be treated like this.
I dont mind if they submit them but dont expect high scores from me. -

OoOooOo The almighty "KONG" has a vulnerability, I must say i couldn't give two monkey's if you finished or not(I thought you wouldn't because you never do). You maybe much better than most people on this site but you have been on this site since 2006 and in nearly 6 years you have made 4 parks, That just backs up what most people on this forum has replied, You maybe amazing but you cant finish much parks ... Its as simple as that !
Prepare myself for the "Wrath of Kong"
Back on topic : I think that the winning design should only be published on the front page Even though many people have made a good design with the same coaster layout it would be the equivalent of there being 1st 2nd and 3rd being put on the World Cup or the SuperBowl. That just would not happen ! When "somebody" wins something their is not credit for the runner up just the winner. That's my opinion ! -

Why does it seem like every new member has to take a snipe at K0NG? I'd rather have 4 high quality parks in 6 years than joining and submitting absolute shit. Shut the fuck up and get good at RCT. -

Well i would rather have someone submit his park even if there was a tiny blackhole in his midway rather than not, I mean after all somebody else in this contest had a massive blackhole even KONG said that himself and i think he had submitted, The judges know things like that can happen and no doubt would rather him submit than just give up basically, And im not taking a snipe at him im just being honest since he was being honest with me when he was complaining in my thread's and it isn't even that. Maybe i was looking forward to his release. Which i was and then because of this small blackhole he says nooo im not releasing, Course you want to release top quality shit but a black hole is just something that happens and the judges would surely take that into account and well as far as i can read this blackhole is why he didn't submit his entry -

I'm glad he submitted it sans black hole. It's nice to see someone care about the quality of their work. I'd rather wait for something sick than get subpar work. -

I really wonder how old everyone is on this board... it kind of cracks me up seeing teenagers arguing with adults and little kids. -

I think personally the designs that didn't get done in time are to be submitted uncompetitive or with a different layout, this layout existed for the contest and the contest ONLY if you ask me, I do have to say I'm looking forward to seeing what RRP and K0NG did with it as both are great players but came short this time when having to meet the deadline, and for all those bashing on people for not finishing, get a life, it's an internet forum dedicated to imaginary rollercoasters... is that really worth that much bitching and flaming? -

You're the only one here that writes more than a sentence about how much you don't care. Personally, as a troll, that gives me all the more reason to I-told-you-so. I was bitching at K0NG because indeed, like scotlands_finest, I was excited about his entry, as I would assume most people were who saw his screens. So naturally, I was pretty let down when he didn't submit. It would just have been exciting to see how his entry fared in the competition.
We'll handle the winners the way the current system allows us to. That is that all entries above 65% will win design. The rankings of the entries will be added to the parkname, so that it's clear who created the top placing entries, and who is the winner, for all eternity. I agree with some that it would be desirable to give special rewards like extra points to the winner, but technically it's not possible unless geewhzz pitches in. You see, NE4 is an automatised website, which thanks to its automatism allows us to handle a huge amount of dynamic inputs that under the format of NE's predecessors, which used custom handwritten html pages, would never have been possible. This is why a contest would have had to be coded like a specialised app, which was too overwhelming of a task and the reason why we never had one since NE4's launch. NEDC was an attempt to work in a contest as good as possible with what we have.
I will let entries submitted after the deadline be competitive, too, because we forgot to create a rule for this at the beginning, so it's not fair to just announce this now as I did above. I'm sorry I didn't foresee this issue early enough and now have to go back and forth with what I'm saying. All these entries will be submissions that decide to use the NEDC layout by RRP and create their own thing with it. If the panel thinks these submissions are worthwhile of a design accolade despite using the same layout, so be it. The panel usually - and in fact is intended to - reflect(s) the community's opinion.
The release preparation for the entries is happening now and I hope they can be presented next week. -

I like the way this went. I hope we can have another sometime, likely a steel coaster, just id kinda prefer that the maker of the coaster does not enter.
Nice work everyone
