This island is super creepy. The story goes a little bit like this...
Once upon a time, on a small island in Teshuilo Lake, between Xochimilco and Mexico City, a group of girls were playing. One of them drowned in the lake and it soon became a haunted place. In the 1950's a man called Julian Santana Barrera decided to live on this tiny island. He was, however visited by the ghost of the young girl, so he stared to collect dolls to appease the angry spirit. He collected many of them and attatched them from the brwanches of trees. He even created an altar. In the 1990's a clean up operation passed through the canal and soon people knew of this place. Julian Santana had a thriving garden and locals brought dolls in trade for vegetables he grew. Some time in 2001 Julian passed away, having drowned in the same canal that the girl did. His dolls still hand there today...
