I wrote an awesome paper in high school that I handed in twice more in college for two more A's. It's bullshit, and those A's weren't worth a damn thing when you think about it, and they were clearly dishonest. That's why NE doesn't allow previously released work to be judged.

But from reading that page over there, I'm glad that our image keeps them away. If their brand of forced politeness and eternal praise came over here, I'd be fucking gone.

^ I'd like to think that if that crap came over here, you'd be alongside me and the others in ensuring that they'd be gone.

I agree, I actualy first started over at TPR before I came here, I was sick of reading hey it's cool and no further comments so I came here to look for constructive criticism to improve myself, I was never treated harshly over here and I always had things I could improve on in the replies, still do actually. Then when I was improving myself and started posting constructive criticism over at TPR without any aggressive tone or harsh language I almost got kicked by a mod because I never said it was ok and simply told peopl what couldf be improved in a correct and polite way... so I simply left and became a full-time NE member since I never even visit TPR for the reason I was called out for giving genuine constructive criticism...

I read all of that topic over there and as one of this sites old timers I have to say although the site it self is a lot better now, the NE community was overall a better community a few year ago when we were more 'elitist'... In fact, I would go as to say that those years were the glory years for the NE community.

Well in all honesty inVersed, those glory years of NE were pretty much the glory years of the RCT community as a whole. Now the community is still moving along but the number of active players is quite small now days.

I posted screens there for the first several years I was active on the site. All I ever got was comments like "wow, thats awesome!" and not much more. As BG said, they expect to be told their work is great even if it's not. This is how we end up with members like fraroc who do not know how to handle constructive criticism since it is not what they are used to. As a result, they get angry and defensive when presented with this style of feedback that is foreign to them. The reason we are considered elitist is our posts show we believe it is better to be respected than liked. That's the difference between NE and TPR. Nowadays, the only reason I read TPR is to see what's going on in the amusement industry and I don't post there anymore either.

Aren't we called elitist because we actually are overall elite at the game in comparison to them and there mostly low quality parks?

We are elitist, and have every right to be so, but for some reason being elitist and good at something instantly portrays you as unfriendly and intimidating, which most of us aren't.

Elitist doesn't mean good at something or top quality, it means someone who believes that a society should be ruled by the elite or that something should be restricted to the elite, which in my opinion isn't a good thing. In other words, newbies are excluded. Elitist is a derogatory term.

I think JDP's comment itself is a reason why people shy away from this site sometimes too; I'm not against it myself but I know there are a lot of people who prefer to be on a message board where say swearing isn't allowed, which is also something I'm not personally against either. It's a big reason for them to feel intimidated, but if anything I seen some pretty 'intimidating' posts from high-ranking people there too in the sense that because they have more theme park contacts than most people, they should be looked up to; essentially the two sites are elitists in different aspects. There's obviously no rule that a person can't be part of both sites, and this could be a reason why the differences could be a good thing.

I know I used to go to RCTStation (rather than NE) afer Dnet went down for similar reasons, then when I felt 'good enough' to release stuff here without being ridiculed (being taunted for noob work was something that was more prevalent back then than now here at NE) that's when I made the switch, and maybe that was around the time the station went down too.

So if anybody happens to see somebody with promise, give them a pm or something to let them know about NE if they don't already. Then they'll start to see that these boards aren't intimidating at all really.

Eh fuck what you people think all I know that a 90% of tpr rct2 players have come here and it didn't change a fucking thing so I'd ask for some of you guys to stop being pretty ignorant and why do they enforce such rules on swearing and politeness? They are a pretty big site with some sensitive members but they pay to be tpr club members so what the fuck are they going to do except enforce these rules? Have a problem with this theory! Us government does same shit ^^

All the members involved at TPR and NE are pathetic, why put so much time in such a worthless discussion... I mean, bitching about bits and bytes which site is better. Just choose your own and stay at it.

^Whats wrong with staying at 2 sites? I like NE as much as I like TPR. -.-
