I met Adam Savage from the Mythbusters today. He gave a lecture at University Twente where I was together with some friends (including Levis). After the lecture we walked around the building and found him. Too bad he didn't had that much time anymore for us. It was great though. The lecture he gave was very inspiring. -

That sounds nice, Coupon! Sometimes I miss living back home in Norway and its ungodly amounts of cold. -

Not bad. But, I'd be more impressed if you could do the same at 26.2 in the rain. And, don't think that I won't be checking the sports section of the LA Times tomorrow to verify this.Got 3rd at the la 5k today.

I was just thinking about what prompted me to start this thread. I guess I should have been more specific with the title....like "The Official Brag About The Accomplishments Of Someone Other Than Yourself" thread.
But, I guess 10 pages of self-righteousness can't be all that bad. -

My uncle wrote articles that may be published in a hardcover edition of an Alan Moore comic, my realtor knows Rob Reiner, and my US Gov teacher's uncle is Hunter S. Thompson. -

Full circle back to the post that started this thread.
My youngest daughter, now a HS senior (that obviously inherited her fathers genes...no offense to Mrs. K0NG) received her acceptance letter today from Boston University.
She'd already been accepted by ASU (she applied there because her boyfriend attends and they have a decent medical program....ehhhh) with UCLA as a sure bet (I made her apply there because I'd LOVE to keep her near home and USC is more about "arts", dammit) to follow shortly.
But, Boston University is probably THE most coveted of all medical universities in the country. Very few get this honor (it's like for only the top 4%). It's like Harvard for math majors.
As much as I'd love for her to stay close (UCLA)...having B.U. on her resume' as she forges her way into the medical field is something that ANY parent would be proud of.
Props, hon....fucking BIG TIME props. I'm SO proud of you.
Now, when dad goes and wins H2H6....we'll own the fucking world -

K0NG, how does that work? BU is just her undergrad institution, so she'll have a whole 'nother battle in 3-4 more years when she's applying to med school. I know at some schools, like UNC-Chapel Hill, there are tons of kids going there for their undergrad that expect to stay there for med school, but it's actually a bit harder for them to get into med school than "outside" applicants. I'm sure you already know this, but the best thing she can do as an undergrad is be active with not only her fellow students, but also faculty. Anyway, my cousin went to BU (although she is jobless at the moment) and it's a really good school. I have other cousins that went to BC and other schools in the Boston area. Best of luck to you and her!
