Wow. It's really kinda interesting to get such a personal view from such a big event. Hoping everything works out for ya'll.

To let you all know, last weekend after being away for over 8 months we moved back into our house. It's pretty incredible to not live with my in-laws anymore.

The house has a new roof, new windows, new doors, new sheetrock, new paint, new flooring, a bigger utility room, a lot of new contents, and a new steel reinforced cement "safe room" in the garage.

We still have a long to-do list and list of things to buy, but that happens with any move.

The town of Joplin looks a whole lot different than it used to. Tons of work has been done and there are a lot of new buildings, but there are a whole lot more empty lots. They are just now tearing down the Joplin high school.

That's great Ozone. I love this vibe of enthusiasm over a fresh new start I get from your post and I wish you and your family well for things to come.

Only noticed this thread now since last summer I was busy with exams. But wow, I would be devestated if it happened to me, good to know your are still alive and your house is fixed (although it taking 8 months). Good luck with the rest of things you have to do to make it live-able again.

A group of kids from my university are going up to Joplin to help the reconstruction effort over spring break. I've wanted to help myself for a while now since I have friends who live over there but haven't had the chance to go. Sorry to hear about your home but glad you are alright. That's always most important.
