    WANTS....

By complex do you mean you're going to reinvent the Toon B&M supports?
  • Splitvision%s's Photo
    sweet.
  • Austin55%s's Photo
Yea, thats awesome. Some shading touch ups would be great for sure, maybe even add a little flare at the end http://www.gregscoas...kumba_loop2.jpg to keep it from being to plain.

No, not reinvent. I won't try and fix something that's not broken. All this will be is some additional objects, like a small add-on to his set.

Finished the braces today and their looking pretty good. Just need to finish working out the supports and the set will be done :)

In case you guys did not see it at the awards...

Guess it works and I was not sure id be able to do it. Still need another for the left large loop, but second time is never as bad.

Funny thing is idk if it will work on SoK for a few reasons, so I might do a normal set and then one for just SoK ;)

I hope to get back to building soon, as useful as these objects are to make there also a pain to make with all the testing you need to do.

    Kumba, that's beautiful.

Nice, saw this at the awards. Guess I'll have to boot up ParkDat and import these in :p

    (@CCI :p  )

(Also, Kumba, will these be released individually or in SoK?)

    I think I love you.

    I'm excited :D

Pretty neat stuff, but not really amazing to me. Actually, I think it looks a bit awkward.

I don't know, maybe it's just that I was content with what we already had. Maybe I see no need to reserve extra object slots just for a more "realistic" loop support. I don't know, I just can't get excited and praise you over a "better" looking loop support.

It would be better of there was a diagonal support connecting with the loop connector piece itself
  • Kumba%s's Photo
You mean like on this one?

Was planning on it since it's already line-up with Toon's set. That was a nice unexpected surprise :)

    Ok, now THAT's cool.

the diagonal brace does look better than the straight one you shown in the awards ceremony.

As awesome as this is, I agree with what nin said. I can't see myself getting excited over these new loop pieces as much as the spiral stairs for the catwalks and support base with small footer. Those will be added to my park as soon as this is released. However, if these support connectors are going to be MT, then worrying about saving object slots would be pretty much out of the question. This is all great work and I'm excited to see it finished.

It is an MT object and they all will be. A 1x1 area sounds big enough, but with how much RCT's loop moves when you rotate the extra space was needed. So yes that means they should be pretty easy to add to parks as large scenery.

Also I see that a lot of you are excited by the loop I posted above with the diagonal supports, but they might not be that useful on loops and that's why I made the straight version. Here is a full screen of it, in fact this was made by Toon and posted by him in 2006 and is what I based these off:

As you can see if you keep going on the diagonal you run into the track. You can pull it off with supports lower on the loop, but for the brace they need to be higher and that creates the issue. Still useful to support cobra rolls, dive loops, sea-serpent rolls, ect...

atm I am trying to think of other objects I can make for this project. Right now I have the loop braces, the spiral steps, a more modern on-ride photo cam and likely a small set of safety nets. Please reply with any other ideas for good realistic objects, especially if they are B&M related.
