Hi
Maybe I'm preaching to the choir but wouldn't it be a good idea to start developing a RCT2 mod? Instead of spending hours at the object selection small scenery list and coping with a objectdata full directory try to imagine building a themepark and improving it without missing vital scenery parts. Browsing through all your scenery and rides while building a park. Used parts are autosaved in a last-used-directory. New objectdata automaticly added to the list.
Such a mod wouldn't only expand the opportunity's of the experienced users. It would also attract new members to NEDESIGNS and in that way revive the best RCT community on the web.
Change we believe in.

yeah, we know. at the moment, a lot of us are comfortable with the restrictions of rct. but if it bothers you that much, you can develop a mod for your own use. mods alienate users rather than bring them in. -

What do you mean with mods alienate users?
And can anyone open the detached sv6 file of the first post? I cannot. -

rct is a program. you want to change the program, am i right? new users will find it too confusing opening the files and won't want to. -

The errors caused by opening files right now are more confusing than the opportunity to download a mod which fixes all problems. No confusing objdata and so on... -

As one of the resident old heads here, I feel qualified to speak on behalf of New Element and name you the point person on this project. Go to it. -

As one of the resident admins here, I feel (more) qualified to speak on behalf of New Element and tell you that modifications have been tried before, with RCTmodified, which failed, to my great relief, because as SSSammy has mentioned, it splits the community into groups of users and non-users, and distorts the "togetherness" that I think is very important in keeping a community vital. Plus, in addition to the harm custom scenery is doing already, it blurs the bar upon which quality in parkmaking becomes measurable, as more and more limits are being removed, making it impossible to say whether something has required imagination, creativiy and skill, ... or merely just a new tool, trick or mod, that does it all in one click. -

Don't let Posix fool you into thinking I'm not in charge around here. I expect to see results on this project immediately, mm'kay? The community is counting on you, brus93. -

Thanks for the replies.
Thanks, Cocoa.
Please quite the immediate expectations.
If there would be a mod made, it indeed wouldn't be a good idea to build in features that impede the use of our imagination and creativity. I am aware of that danger.
What features would be useful?
- Maybe all the features of 8 Cars per Trainer?
- 'Unlimited scenery-use'?
- Any other idea's?
I think that such a mod wouldn't do any harm to the community.
If this community is able to provide itself with a decent and attractive website, it might be able to develop a minor mod. Maybe it's just matter of collecting and organising ideas and finding programmers.
Where there's a will there's a way.
A poll could find out whether there's a will.Attached Files

Wait, so you don't actually have any coding ability yourself?
I am totally for any mod that doesn't require a stupid new file extension like modified did, and that improves the game's playability without altering its nature. I think a good thing would be that 8cars could be used in-game so the alt+tabbing can have an end. -

Correct. Idk what I was thinking at the time must have been drugged -

Indeed. But the point is: Is there anyone here who has this coding ability?Wait, so you don't actually have any coding ability yourself?
And: Is there any need for such a mod?
There is nothing wrong with some free brainstorming instead of pessimism and sarcasm.
By the way... Is there anyone who can open the attached file Roma4.SV6>? I forgot to export the sv6. -

well the first answer is no. so you dont need the rest.
cause if there was a programmer we've had that mod before.
