dr drit and J K only used that color because I put it in the wrong order. They win, get over it.

You put the letters of Dr dirt's name in the wrong order, too. That doesn't make it his name.

This is a fun contest made by Kumba. I think everyone should calm down...

    I am having fun.

^ "Like" really wasn't a good word use on his part. As he specified nothing of arrangement, and as my colors are the same as Kumba's, I'd say my colors are like Kumba's.

Well, in that sense, you could use gold and forest green, because they are "like" yellow and teal.
  • dr dirt%s's Photo
Actually I couldn't as he said to use teal and yellow.
  • Midnight Aurora%s's Photo

Actually I couldn't as he said to use teal and yellow.

He also specified that it had to be the same as on Kumba, so if we're choosing which part of the directions to ignore, I choose to go with the one that is more convenient to my point. Arguing semantics won't change the facts.
  • dr dirt%s's Photo
I don't see which part of the directions I'm ignoring or which facts I am changing. The colors are the ones specified and the same colors as Kumba.

I see where you're coming from, but my answer still met the requirements.

Technically speaking, dr dirt and J K's train colors both have colors LIKE Kumba's trains. Had the challenge stated that the colors or trains had to be "the same as," MA would've won. The wording was poor and Kumba can't assume that we would know what he meant when he stated the colors had to be "like" Kumba's trains.

I really think that dirt and J K won this one, only because of poor wording.
  • K0NG%s's Photo
Well, if you look at the trains on Kumba, the main color is yellow. Hell, it's even in his avatar. The main color of both J K and dirts 'answers' are teal. That's a significant difference to me. So adding "like Kumba" would seem to indicate that the main color of the trains should be yellow...like Kumba.

This would all be moot if I could open a fucking .PCX file because I had the screenshot, with the correct colors, 15 minutes before either of them posted. I just couldn't open the damn thing.

You guys are taking a game on a computer game forum WAY too seriously.
  • Wanted%s's Photo
Shutup DH you take everything too seriously.

BTW Kumba never said you had to paint the MAIN color yellow and the secondary color teal. All he said was use the colors teal/yellow(like on kumba). If taken literally J K and dr dirt had it correct because Kumba said TEAL/yellow not YELLOW/teal.

EDIT AFTER VVV DH VVVV post-Not going there dude. Sorry Kumba, didn't mean to start a potential derailing of the thread.
  • Dark_Horse%s's Photo
Wow, way to totally misread me dude. I do not take everything seriously.

All I'm saying is that you're claiming that his wording was unclear after the fact when you very clearly stated that you thought the colours were as they were in your screen shot. You weren't unsure of the directions--you made a mistake.

Anyway, I'd still argue that any holes in the specificity of his wording was cleared up when he stated "like Kumba", as if to set a model that should be replicated. If the order of the colours didn't matter, then there would be no need to include that detail, would there? I still insist saying your color scheme is "like Kumba" is to say that you could use approximations of the colours, because they're similar if you squint. It's a semantic leap of faith, and one that could be stretched to any number of arguments.

Either way, if the contest rules were unclear, then it's some bullshit that someone is going to be booted from the game because of it.

@Dark Horse: Arguing over stupid shit that doesn't matter is one of my most favourite things to do in the world. I don't really care if you don't enjoy it.

    I second that.

Anyways, when I originally did the challenge I just went off of his teal/yellow order and I did think it was the right look but I wasn't bothered to check. I only realized I was wrong after you posted it. I thought and still think that the arrangement of the colors don't have to match Kumba anyways. You can argue that I'm saying this after the fact but it doesn't matter.

You're arguing that I ignored a fact that's not there. Saying that "like Kumba" means to replicate it exactly is also just a semantic leap of faith. And the approximations of colors doesn't apply as the correct colors were stated. The placement of the colors was not. (unless you stretch "like Kumba" to apply)

    I feel so loved.

    /sarcasm
  • K0NG%s's Photo
Obviously, both sides are going to point to specifics or the lack thereof to validate their argument. Before I ever opened Fort Mahaica-Mahaicony, I first opened Kumba to make sure of the right color scheme because it said "like on Kumba". I've seen minor details like that be the difference between winning and losing a round previously and I was going to make damn sure that I didn't overlook anything.

BTW, I'll ask here as well....how the fuck do you open .PCX files? Or, is there a way to change the default to .BMP's like RCT2? None of my photo-editing programs even recognize .PCX. I never realized that I've never taken a LL screenshot before so that totally threw me for a loop today when I couldn't figure out how to open the damn thing.

BTW DH, it's ironic that you're decrying the importance any of us place on an argument involving "a game on a computer game forum" after your own participation in the "meat/team" discussion. Along with the myriad other debates you've gone on and on about previously. I guess it's only being taken too seriously if it doesn't involve you. And, it's not about the game....it's about winning.
  • Kumba%s's Photo
I open .PCX LL screens by dragging them into Irfanview, try that.
  • J K%s's Photo
Um wow. Didn't realise this shit went down over night. Both teams are going have a different argument for this but I can simply say I read the colour scheme in order and would have interpreted it that way. I'm sorry but I always go by what's black and white written in front of me. Plus the fact that Dr dirt and I both posted it at the same time with exactly the same conclusion says that a lot of people have read it the same way we did.
