Ask the Experts / WW & TT

I know the game won't run without having all the object data from the base RCT2. Can I delete any of the WW and TT files without getting errors? I already had WW and just received TT. Time Twister only had about 20 Dats I can use. Let me Know. Thank You.

I think it would be better to first deinstall the WW / TT installation with the CD in your CD drive and use the deinstallation tool that comes with it. Then if you find any files that are not deleted by the installation, and that belong to the WW / TT CD's you then can delete them, since you already deleted everything else of that expansion.

Yes, I have WW/TT installed but I have non of the items from either actually in the game at the moment. Meaning if I download a WW/TT park and it is exported like it should be the items will install themselves just like any other content would. The only DATs you cannot remove are the "STEX50 through STEX66" (WW) and "STEX67 through STEX80" (TT). STEX1 through STEX39 are used by regular RCT2. Numbers 40-49 do not exist, I think they were being held back for a future expansion pack that never came due to low sales of WW/TT. The STEX DAT's are not items so you won't even know you still have them your ObjData folder.

Going to probably get in some trouble or start an argument by saying this but here it goes anyway...

Keep in mind that around here using any items for WW/TT is frowned upon by a majority of the players here but for most of the members it's OK to use converted (stolen) items. Why I have no idea but that seems to be the way it is. There is some really nice stuff in those expansion packs and if the items are good enough to convert they should be good enough for everyone to just go buy the games and support the companies that created them rather than stealing just the items they think are good enough. I will admit some of WW/TT items are junk but even some items from regular old RCT2 fit the junk category also.

I personally love WW/TT but to not cause issues with the "I refuse to buy or install WW/TT" crowd I have started to use the converted items. Since I liked some of the items very much I have even converted a few myself. So if most of the 20 items from the expansion pack(s) you want to keep are rides I suggest you head over and visit the great people at the RCT2 Object List. Sign up and download the converted rides and use those. Most of the other converted items from the game you will end up getting just by downloading parks.

I agree completely dmaxsba. Some of the WWTT objects are very good and if all original RCT2, WW and TT dats would fit into the same bench, like is the case in RCT1 and its expansions, I would immediately start an RCT2 project just to enjoy these objects. But as they are too many for one bench, I don't want to limit myself before even starting the project by not being able to have access to all the objects in my park.

One thing: I believe original (official) objects don't ever export. Since they are the game's native objects, they are expected to always reside in the objdata folder, and exporting/importing is disabled on them.

Gonna bump this, but if I have the Triple Thrill Pack, is there any way to have saves that can be opened with standard RCT2?
