Not to keep digging up garbage but... I wasn't that far off base. The only thing that this article DOESN'T mention is the catholic oppression of the celts and druids part.

But notice that the article mentions nothing about the devil. The article has a few more links imbeded in it's text. So you can go a little deeper into the subject.

That was different times, Wolfman. Catholicism is a lot more embracing of Halloween now that is mostly, if not wholly secular. Not of all of Christianity feels that Halloween is "devil worship," most likely only the extremist Christians. Like I said earlier, an exorcist from the Archdiocese from Rome doesn't have a problem with the spirit, as long as people don't go out performing wizardry and witchcraft. For Catholics, it's the same concept as reading Harry Potter, if it's for entertainment and you don't believe in it, then it's fine.

Evolution has good amount of evidence so to say that it hasn't been proved is a little far fetched, also considering that your DNA is around 95% the same as most mammalian species Id say evolution kinda exists. (dont quote me on the exact percent though, going off the top of my head).

I guess it all depends on how you meant that... so:

1. Just because both theories are unable to give undeniable proof doesn't mean that both are equally as unlikely (and therefore equally as likely). Science has a lot more going for it these days than religion as far as that pesky "proof" thing goes. Either way, if both are equally as likely, you'd be silly to jump dick first into one or the other, and you're probably just going with whatever one was chosen for you by your parents or local culture. That's some strong conviction, right?

2. If you meant it in the way that nobody can make you do anything, then yes, you are correct. You are perfectly within your rights to remain ignorant of the truth, whatever side that truth may eventually fall on. You'd be a dick for doing so, though.

Didn't that Stephen Hawking (physicist) prove that God doesn't exist? And if God doesn't exist, then it stands to reason that the Devil doesn't exist either. Because it took God to create the Devil. So all this religion talk is sort of moot where Halloween is concerned. Because there is no Devil.

...At least, according to Stephen Hawking at any rate.
