but each section of track goes up or down 5 feet and the straight track takes up one tile, but the diagonal track takes up 2 spaces, yet is still the same altitude.

Actually, it's 2sqrt(2) spaces. Learn trig, kthxbai.

Also, I agree with Liampie: that restaurant is way out of scale with everything else you've got.

    You know what I mean.

^ From the overhead it looks like the restaurant is almost as tall as the immelman on Montu. Are you going by actual building height?

I was going by the judgement of tiles and the sort of round part of the structure. Trying to make sure that the walls seemed equal in length was more of a priority. Shortening any of the walls would through off the "curve" of the circular structure. The circular structure has seven equal sides, this one has five. (Gotta learn to work with and accept the game's limitations.)

The roofing I really didn't have a choice on. It's not as if I can pull a custom slope outta my ass and make it the perfect height in relationship to the rest of the world.

If I went with a gentle slope to the roof, then the roof would of been much wider and seem out of purportion in that respect. Making it look more like a Howard Johnsons. Seeing how the roof was pretty steep, I think I went with the most logical choice.

But as you can see, the resteraunt itself is quite immense. And it rivals the height of Montu fairly decently. It's like I said in a previous post...

I have one amazingly large structure that needs to be built. The Crown Colony Restaurant is a HUGE sit down restaurant, to the left just before you enter the Egyptian area.

It's probably the largest structure in the park.

Actually, Montu is not that far away. Now drag out your tape measure and tell me which one's tallest. Don't forget the large half loop is in a three level pit and you're dealing with a game, not the real world.

yeah the scale in your park is definitely off, although you do seem to have a good representation of the restaurant in your park in terms of overall shape

Some sort of game overlay, quick conversion of image to multi tile objects or guide to converting real life map data to rct land land textures would be really helpful for projects like this. Especially with scale and layout. Isnt there a load bmp function in one of the trainers for land texturing? (im sure liampie did it with a world map or something before)

edit: i found this, not sure if it actually works though but is basically what i was trying to describe above

Since the game isn't displayed in a "window", (rather full screen,) would this even work? Besides, I print out my pictures, but things still got a bit off.

Yeah. Now that I can look back and compare it to the photographs, I think that I've made the Egypt area a bit longer than it actually is. If hindsight is 20/20, there are a few things I wish I could correct if it wouldn't require so much work...

I wish I had placed the gate about 10 more tiles away from the parking area to line up better with the midway. Currently, there's this awful dogleg and peeps are getting lost because of it.

Maybe I was too generous with the Shifting Sands area, it's much longer than it's supposed to be. About half as wide would of been better. That would of shortened up that side of the area fairly well.

I believe that the railroad crossing is misplaced. It probably should be closer to the coaster, so that the shops and King Tut's Tomb could be deeper like in the photos.

While the Pharaoh's Statues can't be shaved down, the gate to their right, seems to be too wide as well.

Keep in mind this is my first recreation of a track and it's area, so I imagine things are going to be off here & there at some point.

But at least I can see where I made some mistakes. And now I have to decide whether I want to rework the entire area from the Shifting Sands and move it all closer to the coaster.

Thus far, it's been fun studying the photos, and trying to get things right. But even in the best of times, things will never fit together exactly as expected. Maybe someone else will come along and build a better version. But for now, I still have this one to finish up. It would be nice to see someone with some experience recreate this project. It would be interesting to see the differences between the two.

Thanks to the ability to save scenery with tracks, I was able to save each structure individually as scenery. I was then able to demolish the old structures, and reposition/replace them as I pushed everything closer. This compressed the structures and left a large area that the Akbar's Adventure Tours can be relocated to.

Check out the "Before & After" shots.

The gate building has been moved. Akbar's Adventure Tours and the Crown Colony House resterant.
Now that the resteraunt has been moved, I might be able to put in the Skyride.
But it would be a partial structure.

In the midst of Kumba's Kumba rec. this honestly looks like a weak rec. but it still seems like a pretty nice step up from your other work wolf.

I was thinking more along the lines of setting a images opacity above the rct full screen

But the RCT display default is on top. Being able to see through it to an image below would be the only option.

Don't get me wrong... It's a nice idea and I can see where this would be helpful under the right conditions. That is, taking under the consideration between the isometric view that the game provides and the perspective views of photographs.

Since the game view has no contol over the angle of the POV outside of the usual four views. The photograph would have to be warped in some manner to get that ground angle to match up somehow. But then in doing so, that would also alter all reference points of the photograph and make the entire process unreliable.

The other point is that anything that is displayed in a window takes second place to the RCT display. Even trainers have to run in the background, internet windows, folder windows... Thats why we have to press the start key to reduce the RCT display to access trainer functions. If the trainer window could remain on top of the RCT window, then I'd say this would work. (To what degree it would actually provide help is debateable.)

I call it the "RCT display" because it's not technically a "window". A window has a frame with sliders along the bottom and/or right side, a series of drop down menus along the top (along with some other features,) and is scaleable in size. The display has none of those "window" features.

I have to ask... What would be the difference between having images in a folder, expanded to it's largest size, in filmstip mode, that would be lesser than seeing them through the RCT display? When I can simply reduce the RCT display and have a clear view of the images. because I'd say that there would be a 100% chance that the photos and the game POV will never line up.

^ Except that the rims, like those at any carnival/fair are oblong and only about 1" deeper than the diameter of the ball. They LOOK like normal rims (regulation width) but it's extremely difficult to sink those fuckers.

    @Wolfman....there are these roof pieces:

Unfortunately, I've only seen the one shown and the outside corner piece. They're colorable and...I'm debating making a whole set (including the steeper angle) since I really like these. If anyone else knows of the existence of more than just the two (they're both named "Dach-(Bretter)") please post/upload them ASAP before I decide to undertake making them. Damn, my OE 'to-do' list is beginning to look overwhelming again :SA:

I went ahead and changed the roofing of the buildings to what you suggested, K0NG. I'm just waiting on those steeper versions now. Check it out...

Everything's just so... *bland* at the moment. I know its a work in progress, but still... it's hard to get a true feel for the areas with so many plain, bare walls.
  • Wolfman%s's Photo
OK, THIS totally blows. Project on hold. Medical emergency. K0NG? You got a break for a week or so on those roof objects. :(

Seems I have a build up of fluids between my lungs and the ribcage. Dr. Bayron, my cardiologist, had X-rays done of me today, and "discovered" this nusance.

 It's like I've been telling them this while I was in the hospital originally since (06/22/10) and all during my rehab, and the home service nurse over the past 6 or 7 weeks, about the shortness of breath, tightness in the chest, how I hear bubbling noises when I breathe, and cough for ten minutes or so after I lay down to sleep for the night.

But do they LISTEN? *uck no! Appearantly not until they have the evidence stairing back at them in the form of a "just checking" X-ray. OK, rant over...

I'm heading back to the hospital tomorrow, (08/10/10.) They're going to obtain a sample, (needle in the side and suck it out like a giant mosquito,) then figure out what to do from there. Just waiting for a hospital bed to become available. :(

Bob, as much as you and I have been through...I honestly, as God is my witness, hope everything you're dealing with takes a turn for the better. You may annoy the shit out of me at times but, I'd never wish anything but good health for you. You're a tough, old-school fuck like me so...you'll be fine. Just make sure to cop a feel on the nurse while you're in there (unless it's a male nurse...that might turn ugly). :mantis:

And, if MA chimes in about my "walls".....fuck off...I'm not ALWAYS an asshole.

And, if MA chimes in about my "walls".....fuck off...I'm not ALWAYS an asshole.

I was just going to ask you if you knew how I knew you were gay. You don't have to be an asshole about it... :'(
  • Wolfman%s's Photo
Accusing someone for being "gay", just doesn't carry the weight it used to. In fact it almost puts a positive spin to it. Almost like a compliment these days.

Now, accuse someone as a follower of Allah, and you've done damage.

BTW MA, Did you ever recieve that turban you ordered?
