Just moves everything 2 blocks further left. Not a huge deal but it may interrupt the turn in front of the loop a bit. -

One thing I keep seeing in all these layouts is steep track in, out or in and out of the 0 G roll. Really should just be 45 deg track, tho yeah that might expand things a little to much, but id still try and bring that element lower. Phatage's (surprise, surprise) imo is the best layout posted so far, but all of them have ups and downs... no pun intended.
Also nice to see your doing some theming and it looks on spot.
Im just waiting on Gwazi to start a topic with screens of a Gwazi rec, then we have two members named Sheikra and even a Scorpion
This is all fun to watch -

That actually looks pretty good with the exception of the zero-g and batwing sequence. I'd smooth out the transition to/from the zero-g with some 45-degree track. After the zero-g, the track rises up into the batwing. Looks like you should be able to implement that just by replacing the long flat section with 45-degree track and replacing the flat diagonal section with a small dip and incline up to the MCBR.

I had a gentle slope from the barrel roll, and someone didn't like it.The only thing I see with that version is the drop out of the zero-g looks awkward and doesnt flow from this angle.

Only the people who have been working with me steady since the topic began. I don't care about people who try to discredit, denounce or otherwise tell me to give up trying. Quitting is for losers, you don't get any better if you give up. It's like the Riddler said, "If you kill him, he won't learn nuthin'.
I'm just anxious to get the track design nailed, so I can import it into another park and start putting together Egypt and try to get some decent supports going on it. Sorry if I came across as angry. It's a lot of work taking screenies, converting them, uploading them to my website, then link the image here. Only to find another suggestion was added a few moments before which renders all the screens moot.
At the same time I'm trying to work over the objects for the park that this track is going to eventually end up in. And work out how Egypt is going to be put together, take comments & suggestions about that, and try to keep up with both.
So here's your "up to the moment" update. -

Sorry if I'm not being clear with my explanations. I didn't mean to use 45-degree track for the entire zero-g roll, but rather have a section of it before/after the 60-degree track to help "smooth" out the look of it. The batwing still needs to ascend after the zero-g so you can get rid of the trim brakes. And then it will fit right in descending a bit before the ascent into the MCBR, like what Mav did with his latest rendition. -

Raising the batwing will remove it from the trench. (I've been sort of holding steady to that part of the track design. And you can see that the land is pretty flat through here, but it looks to me as if it drops off beyond the batwing/trench. Check the photo you added in post #64.
I don't see the batwing lofted into the air as much as it may seem. In fact, it looks to me that the track entering the batwing is actually lower than the track exiting.
What seems like a uphill climb is actually an extended or drawn out version of a corkscrew. As if you held the inverted part of the corkscrew, and pulled back on the right-side-up end, sort of pulling out the "coil" of a spring in a way. Otherwise, the track looks pretty flat and level to the ground from what I see from that vantage point. -

Again,
.Google Earth shows the elevation of the land under the station at 48 ft, while the batwing area has an elevation of 54 ft
If one unit = 5ft and 54-48 = 6, then it needs to come up a notch. -
RMM Offline
you do all know that there is 60 and 25 degree track right? there is no 45 degree track slope. so technically, the steep slope is closer to 45 (forgetting looks). -

So in the area between the station and the batwing, over the distance of a couple hundred yards, the elevation changes six feet? Thats quite insignificant to put a fold somewhere through the middle of the park to justify the need.
I mean, I can see it if I was doing Phantom's Revenge and Thunderbolt, as they run through a valley or gourge. That would be required. But for the height over distance, I'm not going to bother. If you didn't have the elevations to look at, you would think the land is pretty much flat. -
John Offline
Right, but the point we're getting at is that the batwing looks awful and the trim brakes are less than ideal. You have to compensate for the small corkscrew pieces somehow and I guess if you're happy with some trim brakes that look like they'll affect the ride's pacing pretty extensively, there's really no more discussion. -
Maverick Offline
Yeah, the miniscule size or rct corkscrews make elevating related elements significantly. It might not look as pretty, but it's better for operational realism which is always my priority. This is your project, so you don't have to listen to any of us, but you should not limit yourself to what rct gives you. Otherwise you might as we go back to your small inversion layout. -
Wolfman Offline
Well, what would you do? Allow the trains to pass through wretchedly small corkscrew at nearly 50 MPH and put a chokehold in the way of high G's at the bottom of the batwing at nearly 60mph that makes the peeps pass out? or would you slow the trains down to a less than breakneck pace and go through the batwing at acceptable speeds?
So the trim brakes scathe off 12 MPH. The track is flat, and that's more realistic than adding a hill that doesn't exist on the real track. The corkscrews come in only one size & style. Small. So it's sort of moot to keep bringing up the "problem with the corkscrews and the batwing" when there's nothing that can be done about it. The bottom line is speed and G's.
We're also striving to make it look as realistic as possible considering we're working with a game that doesn't have the flexability to render a peep with two eyes. As a recreation of real tracks, everyone knows that RCT sucks at it, yet we still argue and piss at each other when we all know it boils down to a matter of opinion.
The track heads into the batwing low and parallel to the ground. If you rode the ride, you would think you're feet would scape the ground. I want that here. There is nothing "uphill" about the approach to the batwing. If there was, it wouldn't be in a pit on flat land. It would be in a pit in a hilltop. And that's not remaining true to the attraction or the landscape.
Considering that the trains have been making it through the circuit just fine otherwise. Even after the final corkscrew and that banked curve/rise at the end. I really don't need a brake run there as the trains slow down after the rise to about 14 MPH. So it runs great. The only reasons there is a chain-block at the very end before the brake run is to prevent rollback (as I KNOW that this sort of unexpected shit happens,) and act as a chainblock so the next train doesn't stop waaaay back before the barrel roll.
If you can't understand my reasoning, and you want to repramand me for not listening, maybe you should read the topic from the beginning. I've already taken a lot of advice, made changes according to suggestions, and held on to a few elements I thought were part of the personality of the attraction. (Personally, on the real ride? That batwing is the highest G inducing element going. I really think that the brake run was put in the wrong place. But that's my opinion.)
Together we have rendered 8 different versions of this track design. I mean "together". Maverick, John, Louis, just to name a few who started making significant suggestions and didn't discourage me along the way.
So when we start making suggestions that start to rework elements that we have already established, (like changing the first loop from right to left even though it's a right handed loop,) I think it's time that we stop working on the track and put it in it's "habitat". If you ask me, the track is complete. It's not going to get any better, and we'll just start second-guessing ourselves. -

LOL! Actually I was referring to Phatage's layout with that post. Not your layout
oh and you still have that ugly and in my eyes, unrealistic, first drop. -
Wolfman Offline
Uh Uh, ssssorry. I changed it to what John suggested. Remember mine was steep then went into a banked turn? Well, this one is a banked turn going into a steep drop.
But if that's ugly, and the version I had was ugly, then I think that you will think that the first drop will be ugly no matter how I create it.
BTW:
I put it in a new park and working on Egypt. I'm down to the games area, but have yet to work on the structure for the station enclosure. Since I usually roll up the exits in a wheelchair, I don't visualize the queue and structure very well.

I think white actually might be a better color for the supports instead of beige. The support colors look much closer to white then to beige. -
Wolfman Offline
Sorry. Not white. Scroll up to photo in post #69. The clouds are white, the supports are beige. But I'm leaning towards a washed out yellow. Beige comes the closest. (Don't be doin' this shi* when I add the custom supports. I'll have a meltdown.)
Overview of the area thus far.

Really starting to look good. Loving the look on most of those buildings. Looking forward to seeing how you do the Q and interactive areas with the black fences. Just can't be super easy since google maps does not seem to have the panoramic pics from there, maybe google earth does?
Also tan works on the supports. I am sure your with me in wishing RCT had a good beige/off-white color. That's been a constant struggle on my Kumba rec.
