^I agree with the pinned topics. It's really hard to see with a bright screen - maybe even a darker red would work, but seperating them would be ideal.
I love the whole database and being able to read the creator's comments on their parks. I think there should be links to accolade categories on the main page and maybe even a contests link.
I'm liking the idea of ranking parks, but it'd be biased towards recent parks. -

I agree it would be biased. The best feature you have added is the flags from where people are posting from. I think it should stay a fixed nationality rather than where they are in the world but maybe thats just me.
Also last thought. I have been looking through the forums a lot to try and adjust and I always feel I have to scroll down so much because topic titles take up a bit more room than last time. It doesn't encourage me to post as much.
Other than that the rating system for parks is fantastic, the professionalism of the display and the submit a park is incredible. Choosing if you want it to be competitive or not surely caters for every player out there and I'm sure new players will want to build to get into the current ranking system. It's like you guys have created an ongoing competition inside a game that we all love. You guys have worked so hard the past two years and I'm very proud to say you have revolutionised the new era of rct good and proper.
Sorry for some of the negatives but they are only to encourage people to read all the content in the forums rather than just the top few topics. -

Just a major kudos from me. Wow. I'm in awe, I too had no idea that it was this far along!
Anyways, one minor little detail: I didn't make 50% of Islands of Enchantment.. no biggie though just thought I'd point it out.
Very happy for you guys getting this out there. Have fun with the response and the last bit of tweaking! -

I just thought a bit more about what Louis suggested, but I think with the sorting feature of the NE database on score actually gives a good display of the best parks.. Only downside is old Spotlights are not rated by the accolade panel.. Maybe we should still rate those by the panel so people can get a good sense of what are the best parks on here..
SF
edit; wme, that was done automatically as you were listed as a 'share' builder. If you go to My Parks inside My Settings, you can edit your shares/guest spots on a park by changing the percentage. (by clicking that little icon left of the map) -

Does anyone know many rct sites so we can advertise our new site? If so would people mind posting on the different forums advertising the site so we can get an even bigger buzz for NE4. -
Levis Offline
I will promote it on some dutch sites when I have time (next week).
rating old NE parks would be awesome. I'd really like to see ratings for those to. but the problem is they will be rated to todays standaards probally and that wouldn't be fair. cause in the time they where made they should have scored higher. so if old parks will be rated that is something to take into account.
If all parks are rated there could be a hall of fame for parks also. for example the best 10 parks etc on a special page which you can see very easy so people can see what this site has to offer really soon.
Also a think I think of now. wouldn't it be nice if members where able to vote on parks themself also?
for example take imdb. all movies have a rating done by professionals and the user ratings. when you are looking for a movie you can sort by both of them. now wouldn't it be nice if parks had the same. if you want to know which parks is "technically" the best you sort on the rating by the accolade panel. but if you want to see which park is the most popular in the community you can sort by user votes. this could give a intresting difference. for example a park which doesn't bring much new things will score lower in the accolade panel. but it might score better in the community cause for some members this might be the first time they see such things made. or they just like the park. -

This would be brilliant if it could be included! -

I'm liking the idea of ranking parks, but it'd be biased towards recent parks.
I dont think it would be biased at all. Because people respect the older parks. For example RoB. Everyone respects it, and I dont think much would be rated higher than it, because of the respect it has. Same goes for all the old LL parks.
I don't think there is a single recent park that I would rate over some of the classics except Silver Valley & Zippo's (Unless you were to class BGSS as recent) -
dr dirt Offline
Sure the famous classic parks would still be ranked well, but the lesser known old parks would suffer. Especially past contest parks compared to recent contest parks.
I'm not saying I'm against the idea at all, just sharing some thoughts. -

I know there have been a lot of posts in between but I am bringing up my parkmaker suggestion again. Its important to realize that it wouldn't change them in the rankings, and they wouldn't get anything special- just a ribbon on their page saying they are a parkmaker. Maybe there could be a filter in the nedb for "parkmakers" or something.
I understand how you (Posix) are saying that this is just sentimentality, and it sort of is, but I think its important for the greats in the game to be remembered, especially the old ones (like SA, as we were discussing). Not just for newcomers to find them (as lets be honest- how many newcomers have rctll?) but for everyone to know that they were here and to give them the respect they deserve.
There have been parkmakers as long as I can remember and I don't want to see ne lose a piece of its history. If the old parkmakers are forgotten as being parkmakers, they will just fade away. And I don't want to see that happen.

I agree.

So this is how many people like rct on facebook. Why don't we send an invitation out to all people who like that page? Obviously the 3,005 people all wouldn't join but I can see a good few wanting to take the game a lot more seriously. That way we've dealt with marketing for our swanky new website and we can recruit new players for more parks and more people interested all over the world. I’ve had a few lessons on marketing here and there and people will see this invitation as soon as possible and visit the site. The massive plus as well is it’s free!
What does everyone think? -

That's a good way for free publicity, and would never hurt. Worst-case scenario, they ignore it and go on to play RCT on their own. Best-case, we get some great new members. "Genesis" is something new, a creation of something new, so let's get some new blood in here! -
Liampie Offline
I can do the same with Hyves, the Dutch Facebook-equivalent. A few hundred more people. -

Wooo let's recruit more amazing players!!!! Anyone got contact to the South Korean forums? -

Okay, a few things changed so far, Breadcrumb is added back inside topics, and I removed the quote from "New Posts" -

We could also recruit people from the following facebook pages:
Roller coasters: 37977 people
Theme parks: 22878 people
Amusement parks: 31908 people
Nothing to lose, so we can give it a try. -

Exactly!!! Would anybody mind posting the invitations for everyone if I help them compile the sales pitch for NE4?
