RCT Discussion / Unofficial Quest for the Best

For those unaware of Quest for the Best, the concept is quite simple, it's essentially a knock-out contest with 4 'brackets', North, South, East & West. In our unofficial contest, 2 of these brackets are designated to 'normal' RCT2 players, 1 assigned to LL players and 1 for Non-CSO players. There will be 3 knock-out rounds and a finals round with each round consisting of a certain set guide-line which could be a theme, a set coaster type or something else along those lines. The idea is not to create a park, but to create a mini-design if you like, with a coaster layout and a surrounding area. Each bracket will have a different set guideline and the winner of the knock-out declared by a public vote. The winner then goes on to the next round to face another opponent, and we continue like this until our Quest for the Best is complete and we crown our finals winner.
Rules & Regulations:
1. Upon signing up, you must choose a game format to follow throughout the contest.
2. You will have to stick to your chosen format for the whole contest.
3. Competitors must use the supplied workbench/benches.
4. An entry can be any size, but remember the idea is to build a mini-design, not a park.
5. Each round will have a deadline to submit your entries by. No extensions will be given.
6. All entries must be submitted to QFTBunofficial@gmail.com by the given deadline. Failure to send in an entry will result in a forfeit.
7. Once sign ups have finished you will be assigned a bracket and a seed number. This will determine who you go up against and what set guidelines you will face.
8. To make the contest fair, once sign up are complete, the list of guidelines and deadlines for each bracket and round will be released. This may seem a silly idea but it ensures that when we ourselves enter, we are at no advantage to anyone else.
9. As the guidelines will have been released in advance along with the benches, it doesnt stop anyone from starting entries early, however we will ignore this as the deadlines are planned to only be around 2 weeks for each round.
10. Should anyone need to drop out, please inform us and we will pick up someone to replace you from the reserves list.
Benches:
There are a total or 5 benches, 3 for RCT2 with the option to interchange any objects found on those benches, 1 for NCSO, and 1 for RCTLL. They can be found HERE.
Voting:
1. Voting will take place on the forums via a poll.
2. Entries will not be anonymous, nor will special codes be used to ensure fairer voting, we just hope that people will vote fairly to ensure a better contest.
3. Voting will normally be open for a week. And a winner will be announced shortly after.
4. Once a winner is declared they will move forward in the contest and their defeated opponent will drop out of the game.
5. The winner of the final round will take home the knowledge that they made their way through undefeated and truly are the best in this quest.
Players & Brackets:
Round Deadlines & Set Guidelines:
To be updated.
Sign-ups:
Sign-ups are open from now to Saturday 19th June, where the contest will get underway. There are only 16 places available, and preferably we would like 4 LL players, 4 NCSO players and 8 others, however if this isnt achievable, we will go with what we can get. Please state which format, LL, NSCO or normal you would like to compete with.
The following people are signed up:
*As of now, we can only allow 32 players, so any remaining sign ups will be placed in the reserve list until a minimum of 32 players have signed up. This is due to the possibility of an uneven bracket.*

ps; didn't like the contest idea I sent nin? -

Instead of supplying a download for the RCT3 entries, competitors would have to create a video of their creation.
On the plus side this would then be the first contest to be in all 3 games.
But the whole video part is annoying, but is hard to get around as not everyone has RCT3 and the whole downloading of custom scenery can be a bitch, which means video is the best option. -

^which is why we are still working on a way of including RCT3 into this. If it's not possible then we wont do it. -
SSSammy Offline
yeah by the way it's not like i don't want 3 to participate. i'm not perposefully looking for faults, i'm trying to make it so we're based on how much skill we put IN THE GAME, if you catch my meaning. -

Also the addition of an RCT3 bracket limits standard RCT2 players to 4.
Unless we get enough people to have 8 in each bracket, which probably wont happen. -

Well, the only thing I'd suggest is to make it so RCT3 entries enter a POV with no editing, along with 5 screenshots or so taken in Isometric, including an overview. -

What kind of map sizes are we talking and what kind of deadlines?
I might enter if the ^ above is something I like ...
