Ask the Experts / RCT + new monitor

Hey guys.


I bought a new monitor (BenQ G2420HDBL) last week and it works all fine. But when I want to open RCT some various problems pop up:

one problem is that RCT always minimizes itself so I am thrown back to windows every three seconds. i solved this somehow but it comes back sometime dunno why.

however the worse problem is when I'm ingame and then go back to windows via Alt+TAB to use 8cars etc. and then maximize RCT again normally everything is fine. but sometimes totally unpredictable an Error trapper pops up (see my ava for attitude to them). The massege is "Unknown Windows graphic driver" or something like this.

Hope someone can help me with this because before the new screen everything worked fine...

I'm running RCT on 1280x1024 with GPU scaling from ATI catalyst.

What is your OS?

That's weird, I only had that error in Vista and Windows 7 and never in XP, but that could be due to the fact that I have not played RCT serious on a XP machine ...

Anyways, I think I can't help you any further, the error is that the game can't find the driver of the videocard and then it crashes ... How to solve it, I serious have no clue. 

Maybe updating the video card driver helps?

That's why Vista/7 stink. They can't run RCT.

Yes, and now add it up, GigaG says that Windows 7 / Vista stink, however, Tolsimir says he is running XP, that would mean XP can't run RCT too. ... So what is the valid point of him that Windows 7 / XP stinks? He doesn't even has Win7/Vista installed so ...

The error happens in XP, Vista and 7, why can't Vista and 7 not run RCT2 then and XP can? 

^ Uh-huh. XP runs RCT better than 7 or vista. Heck, XP is too modern for LL and just modern enough for RCT2, let alone vista/7. At least you can run it on XP.

Tolsmir just has HARDWARE ISSUES, NOT OS ISSUES!

I think I mastered the issue. Have to run my desktop resolution on 1280x1024 and the game also. and i needed to set something with vertical refreshment. still i am afraid of getting a trapper when going back into the game but fortunately i didn't, yet.
