Great question, I forgot to mention that. Kumba is weird that way. Most of its supports go like half a foot into the ground and kinda vanish. It has footers, but were you can barely see them. A few are above ground, but just barely, id bet that none of Kumba's footers are over a foot tall. Maybe it was done for landscaping proposes. Might take yet another custom object to capture it in-game. I don't really like them how they are in that screen atm.Why no footers?
Thanks for the comments -

Maybe put the footers below ground level and then out the other 3/4's of the tile with the gras 1/4 tile object? -

It sucks that RCT2 doesn't support 3D view, it would be cool to see your recreation from the point of perspective as see on the pictures. It looks cool none the less Kumba! -

Looks good kumba.Probably some of the best work ive seen by you. Nice to not see those brown wooden fences and dirt paths/jungle bushes
All id change is make the vertical pole on the security camera one wide rather than 2 so it doesnt stand out as mouch. And work out a way to get the footers in. Maybe using just the roof tile square object or 3 1/4 tile grass + 1 square footer? -

Oh btw, what object have you used for the catwalks? custom made, since I think those steps are smaller then the normal ones ... -

That is brilliant! Especially because of the new objects. Although if I could make a suggestion it would be to put some more shading on the railings of the catwalks (maybe just on the top edge) to give them a bit more depth. And if you're considering making rounded versions for the peak I would say definitely go for it - that would make it look fantastic. -

Goliath - Not a bad idea, now that I got the landblocks working better I can experiment with that. Also here is how they really look so you can see what a ticky aspect they are to re-create:
Cena - One reason I love RCT2 is that there is no 3D, lol. I think there was a program for LL that enabled some weak looking 3D, RCTGU or something like that? Also in regards to your second reply yes I cut the sloped plank in half, made a wall for the rails and then combined them to make a new object since the rail would not be on the edge of a tile. Each object will come with the park both as a catwalk and on it's own. Should be fun object for anyone who loves Toon's planks
Thanks Phil
RRP - You know the trenches were almost brown. It really is annoying that they used concrete so much on Kumba. It's like a cross between the game's white, gray and dull brown and imo none of those colors alone does it justice. I think I'll go with gray for now, but if I still have enough free object slots when im done I might do an entire concrete set.
Xophe - Yeah the rails might be a bit to dark. Kinda had to make them from scratch and I am not good at doing objects that way, I prefer editing finished objects. When I find the time I might shade them down a bit. I think I'll do the rounded peak on the catwalks, just that might be a real pain in the ass... still would make it look fantastic, I agree there
Thanks Louis
Think I'll try and get about 3-4 more updates on this between now and next month when I think I'll be done.
Thanks for the comments -

Nice. I love the custom catwalk.
I was gonna say what Goliath had suggested, but he beat me to it. -

I can't put my finger on why, but that's easily the most "real" looking screen I've ever seen. Maybe it's the catwalk? -

Get rid of the gridlines on the land and maybe add a flange or two on the supports(looking at the real one it has quite a few) and it's perfect. -

*Looks up what a flange is... AH!*
Yeah was meaning to do that. Good eye!
Thanks zburns!
I have never built without grid-lines, never will. You can take them off when you view it in-game tho -

Never heard of that word... *dictionary.com!*a projecting rim, collar, or ring on a shaft, pipe, machine housing, etc., cast or formed to give additional strength, stiffness, or supporting area, or to provide a place for the attachment of other objects.
So, in RCT'er terms, its one of those little circles that they have on one of the support pieces.
So there you go folks, I did it so YOU don't have to.Edited by Luketh, 21 April 2010 - 06:04 PM.

That is by far your most aesthetically-pleasing screen ever. I adore it! We need to talk on AIM about this this weekend. -

Flange (vulgar, slang): A vulva.
2001: tedfat, Flange!!!! in alt.society.nottingham [3]
I was in bed the other day with the missus and I asked to see her flange. Imagine my surprise when she got up went downstairs to my toolbox and brought me up a metal looking object called a flange!!!!! Needless to say when she asked to see my nuts the next time I obliged by doing exactly the same as her.
Probably took a Brit to point this amusing fact out. British slang. I certainly don't remember seeing any flange on the supports last time I was in Florida but it would add to the experience I guess. -
