First the real thing:

Might as well post the layouts I have here. You guys all know this coaster. Still none of these is exactly what I have in-game right now.
Each has its strong and weak points. Please give me your opinions on which is the best overall and why. Here are my three best layouts right now:
This coaster is going to be very hard to do in RCT since it has so many diagonal elements, but it's my namesake, so I got to try
Screens should be up before to long, I have started a few parts and overall this should not take to long to build. -

Yeah, this is a toughie to get in RCT...
I like the diagonal lift hill in numero 2, but it might look weird from 2 of the 4 angles...
I dunno, I'll go with 2 because of the way the loop looks through the lift; much better compared to the real ones than any of the others. The rest is basically the same. -

The second one is the best aesthetically, even if it may not be 100% accurate. Many people seem to try to make a recreation so accurate that it just comes out ugly, and I'm hoping you're willing to sacrifice accuracy a bit to allow it to actually look good, and pay homage to the real thing. -

maybe if you could dig the cobra roll down a bit you could use the large ones and get rid of that huge bit of straightness? I like number three because the corkscrews are more at a 90 degree angle with the cobra roll like the real thing. If you could push the cobra roll away from the lift you could use the corks from #3 with a diaganol lift. maybe...Edited by Austin55, 13 April 2010 - 07:37 PM.

I see why most of you like #2, just it barely makes the dive loop and the loop likes kinda funny.
I think I have a final layout now. It is closest to #3 and I had some doubts, but when I started to place the layout of the path and other landmarks they fell into place pretty nicely.
Keep the feedback coming and hopefully I can have a nice updated posted this weekend. -

I don't care how "realistic" those layouts are compared to the real thing, it looks HORRIBLE. Sorry but RCT isn't meant for recreations and such... -

It will looks much better themed and supported. Yes, No Limits and even RCT3 could make a more realistic layout, but I am an RCT2 parkmaker and really want a version of it in my game. -

Darren, I'm on Wanted's side in that they're not the most aesthetically-pleasing layouts, which is important. If you want me to, I can see if I can make one a bit more "pretty" on Friday for you. -

Come to think of it, I would also like to try this.
because I know where the problem is in the layout, but I also have some other ideas on working it out as I tried to explain. But what better way to explain than building the layout..
Though time is not really on my side atm.. so it will take a while >_< -

You guys can build your own if you want, but I am happy with mine (which is close to all the ones I posted, mostly #3) and will use it regardless of what you make. Keep in mind I am going to theme this as a re-creation too and build all the building and supports in the area of Kumba, so that makes the layout that much harder. -

People have been trying to re-create this coaster since the day the game came out practically. It can't be done accurately because so much of the layout isn't at right angles. That's part of what makes the real ride so beautiful. And then you've also got a tunnel that ends halfway through a helix to deal with. Fortunately RCT2 can handle dive loops a lot better than the first game.
With your three designs -- The diagonal lift hill throws off the scale of everything else so I would eliminate that option right away. #3 looks the closest to me but you have to compromise with that weird S bend between the dive loop and the zero g roll. That's not good either. And I don't like how the first drop on all three of these has a bad hitch in the middle. I would throw out any idea of being accurate at the beginning and try to capture the spirit of the original coaster as best as possible in RCT. That means graceful curves and smooth transitions between each element. (And this is basically how all of us "NE style" parkmakers learned to make coasters back in the day.)
PS - I think Riddler's Revenge is even harder to make in the game. I've never seen a decent recreation of that one. B&M puts a lot of weird angles in their layouts. -

I'm fairly certain there was a small bunny hill going from the zero-g to the cobra roll.
Pretty good job, the last one is definitely the best. I was thinking of adding a recreation of the layout in my version of bga but I had some different ideas for how I was going to pull it off.
I also think a diagonal lift hill would be good.Edited by Cocoa, 14 April 2010 - 06:06 PM.

I was thinking the same thing. There deffinitely is. -

I don't see a "bunny hop"
It is not 100% straight track, but other then a large amount of banked track that's what captures it best. Maybe I can try and S-bend or I have one hack idea that could be fun, just more work than it's worth.
Thanks for the comments, I hope to have some in-game screens posted as soon as im done desiding on places for everything which is is tricky as hell since most could either be square or diagonal and which you pick effects everything around it.
I am liking this challenge tho -

Making recreations is fun because there's really no right or wrong way to do it and trying to come up with solutions for these kinds of problems forces you to try things you never would have tried otherwise. It's parkmaking 101 really. Good luck with this one. Your layout so far is as good as any I've seen in RCT. -

This looks like a decent attempt, Kumba. The biggest problem I see with the layout is the (real) one has the loop and station at 45 degree angles. Unfortunately, due to RCT's limitations, there is no way to capture this accurately. Anyway, good luck with this.
