Ask the Experts / flyer corkscrew

has nobody done it because it isn't possible or what?

when flying of course, i tried using both inverted coaster tracks to merge a corkscrew into a flyer. it makes it way through the corkscrew but where it exits back to the flying coaster track is the problem. half the train seems to make it through before it ends up flying off the track.

and i thought it may have been because the entire train needed to be on the inverted track before it merges back into the flyer... but that didn't make a difference. for the hell of it i've switched the operating mode of the flyer to boat hire mode, powered launch mode, and none of that seemed to make a difference.

so point is... the train makes it onto the merged inverted track, but can't make it's way off without crashing into the ground. anybody messed around with this at all?

EDIT: another question... what is the point of the double station on a flyer, like manta.

][ ran into this problem a long time ago, it can't really be done to my knowledge.

    2) to reduce loading times since it takes longer to load a flyer?

    ^ah, i see.

and yea doesn't seem possible. im even trying to use two small invisible turns while leaving a 'fake' corkscrew there, so it at least appears to have a corkscrew. no luck cause the train crashes when merging back onto the flyer track when invisible.

    shit.

Larger capacity, since on/off loading of peeps take a lot of time and checking their seatbelts, they use 2 station, that way they can double op their capacity (or almost atleast).

Edit, fuck, didn't read RRP his post.

Wow, I didn't think that would look this sucky.

This is not a solution to your problem, but maybe you could do a corkscrew like this:

The normal corkscrews are too small anyway.
  • RMM%s's Photo
yea, i thought of that. it sucks because there is no middle ground between that and a small corkscrew. plus the speed was nice for the small corkscrew. we all look at that and get that it's supposed to be a corkscrew but i clearly still see it as a twist. i already had a layout built so i just threw the corkscrew out and altered it a bit.

shitty cause them look so nice on flyers.

There is a sort of cheat way of doing this in LL. But it is a tradeoff really. The 2nd merge will work if it is merged into non inverted flyer track. I've done it before but hidden the barrel roll you need to get it up the right way either in a tunnel or by making it invisible in codex

    Looks ok from the outside

    Hidden barrel roll.

You dont need to to hide the barrel roll with a tunnel if you make the barrel roll section invisible in codex. BUT then when you add fake flat track over the top you will have 3 flat pieces of track. Which looks a bit crap

    wow... should've figured you'd find a way.

the trade off kills it for me. problem is that it pretty much forces you to go out of the way of a solid layout to build one. impressive shit though.

Yeah it is a bit of a rubbish trade off.

For those who don't know, this is why it doesn't work normally.
On the first Merge you are going from what the game considers inverted track on a flier to normal track for an inverted (no in an inversion)

So entering the merge the train appears to be on inverted track and hanging down.

After the merge the train has bizarrely flipped onto its back

Now for some reason although this works for inverted>non inverted merges as above. it does NOT work when the train goes from non inverted>inverted. hence the little work around above.
