but, Inv, who decides what is and isnt?
isnt this game all about creativity?
we shouldnt confine peoples creativity to building for design/spotlight/CC, cause this can 9 times out of ten make YOU define what you do instead of let your creation be what it is.
i dont really understand why people want it back. spotlight submission is the same.
I just find it difficult to classify AT&T Statium and Dolphin Bay Resort as golds, when historically I have considered golds, bronzes, silvers, and spotlights to be amusement parks or themeparks (or some type of park with rides lol) In the same sense, I have a hard time considering Gamez, Magic World, Pleasure Point, and Quiahuitl, Concept creations when they clearly fall under either design or one of the park categories. I think their should be an accolade for things that aren't a park or a tracked ride, but i just don't think its right to throw those things in with parks -

Since my name is in the topic, I can honestly say that I could care less either way. I didn't build for the accolade. Yes I submitted parks and was proud to receive the accolade but I would have still built them even if the accolade was not in place, nor will it stop me in the future now that it's gone. Bottom line is that I support Gee/posix's decision.

How about, Stop Bitching at the admins and find your own business, eh?
Oh, voted the tie-breaking vote for no, because the admins decision was to eliminate them, and they're running the site. Leave them be, and just be greatful. It's not difficult. -

Yes it should.Meh. If you want to build some crazy shit, go for it. It doesn't really need to be recognized by the site for being good if it is good.
I vote yes.

well, you're all old fashioned. i can imagine myself getting really pissed off at this topic, so i might just refrain from posting nasty comments, though that isnt a promise. its ironic that im getting annoyed that you guys aren't laid back enough. god damn, im a hypocrite. -

I dont understand why you want it back. What wrong with a gold or even a spotlight if you concept is good enough? -

^ I agree, there is no need for it (although the topic title implies that I do want it so if my name could be removed from the title, I would appreciate it) -

I took out mentions of you from post 1 and the description, RCTNW
EDIT - The battle in the poll is neck and neck, so please, somebody vote yes!Edited by GigaG, 10 February 2010 - 04:51 PM.

^ Thanks although I have to ask, what do you think you are going to accomplish? I could see gee/posix wanting to look at this option if it was really one-sided (40-3 voting yes) however since it's so down the middle, do you really think this will change anything? -

arguments for:
-panelists are likely to rate oddball submissions lower in a streamlined system than if there is a separate oddball category- most people will find it hard to take a well-themed custom flat on a 40x40 and give it a 13 if there is also a 120x120 solo with six areas, five coasters, and three custom flats besides in the queue.
-We already break down "regular" parks and "designs" so why not recognize more categories.
arguments against:
-nobody submits well-themed custom flats by themselves- even when the category was there nobody really knew what to do with it.
-By allowing golf courses, hotels, and the slightly unusual to be judged as "rct creations" alongside more traditional theme-park style submissions we give the creators more recognition and appreciation.
-prevent confusion as to what category you should submit to.
-It would look silly to go back on the merger now, as well as create unnecessary work for the admin team.
ultimately concept creations were a middle ground between NE eras. In the old days NE's releases and release categories used to be "The BEST of (x)" where (x) would be a large themed park or a themed coaster design. There were and still are other sorts of RCT out there, but the Iris chose two popular formats and with them forwarded an "NE style" to distinguish his site from the rest of the RCT fan sites. More recently the admin team has realized that with a dwindling interest in the first two RCT games and more submissions from other styles of play that the NE style isn't the only way to make something awesome in RCT. So the NE releases have shifted from "best park of this particular variety" to "this is pretty cool and we think it should be shown off on the front page." Kumba saw the site (and community) heading in this direction and tried to make a proper space for atypical entries with Concept Creations, but really it was just a stopgap measure. with a new admin team the entire system was able to be updated- the notable exception being designs, since they're very deeply rooted.

Broke the tie-breaker with a 'no'.
Personally, I always thought the CC category was pretty lame (sorry Kumba), seeing that anything put there seemed like it wasn't good enough to be put up against other accolades placed in the bronze/silver/gold/spot categories.
For example, Let's say for some reason I decided to build an airport, and was considered one of the most amazing parks ever built in rct (yeah... ) yet instead of gaining, say, Spotlight, it was placed in CC where it really wasn't "ranked" against anything.Edited by nin, 10 February 2010 - 06:28 PM.

Exactly. It's all about time/thought and effort that gets the highest vote now. If you spent enough of that on any kind of submission then it'll get an accolade. If panelists don't think something its very good why should it have a chance at getting a CC?
