Why is Eto on the right? he's clearly their best striker and can be devestating in the middle... maybe after half time -

To be honest I didn't want Germany to win. But they were the better team so it's only fair.
I wanted Holland to win, I'm really glad they did. Quite a fan of Holland and normal do fancy them to win the world cup. Hope they do win it. Shame I missed the match, stupid school (not like it was any important lessons either )
I watched most of the Cameron vs Japan match. Eto was played out of place, like he has been at Inter, huge shame because hes one of the best strikers in the world. I thought Cameron wouldda won it but they're both off form so
And Italy should win tonight. They won't retain the world cup though...Edited by Airtime, 14 June 2010 - 12:21 PM.

Germany was by far the best team so far, maybe with South Korea as a runner-up.
But I recorded the game and analyzed it a bit - the tactital constancy was astonishing. They were perfectly organized for ~98% of the time.
It was just impressive. If they can keep it up, they'll have a real chance. -

I have 7 correct results out of 9 so far, none with the exact right scoreline though. One correct first goalscorer too (Podolski).
They just mentioned on TV how this WC has an average of 1,63 goals per match so far in the first round, which is about one goal less than in the first round of the last tournament, and also in most of the ones before that ( think 1998 was the only exception down to 1994). Really, the goals have been lacking, and I really hope that will change right away. -

Should see more goals in the coming games with Portugal, Brazil and Spain all playing in the next two days. I also expect that the next round of games will be more exciting as the teams will have more to play for and in certain cases it will be all or nothing. -

Wait, Netherlands won? On my ESPN bracket it shows that they tied. Either way I'm doing absolutely terrible. This is the first time I've ever done these brackets and I didn't realize how much people tied. I only have two right (three counting Netherlands) and I don't think I'll get many more.
EDIT: Nevermind, I did get it wrong. I voted for a tie for some reason. I feel really stupid.Edited by MF72 , 14 June 2010 - 05:59 PM.

^HAHA that was awesome. When I was younger I used to do stop-motion films using lego, they were not quite as good though. They really captured how the goals looked like IRL... USA's goal -

Ofcourse the Netherlands won, why did you thought the Netherlands wou tie? They have one of the best teams this worldcup, everyone expects them to end at the last 4 atleast.
We have, Robben, van Persie, Sneijder, van der Vaart, Kuyt and many other great soccer players this year in the team -

Last 8 i reckon. same as useveryone expects them to end at the last 4 atleast.

In all fairness, you're ranking is 8th.. and ours is 4th...
You tied.. we won..
So realistically speaking, I'm not sure how you're chances should be "similar".
Hooray for Japan, really. This means that without playing any real football, relying fully on a beautiful combination between Poulsen and Agger, that we only need to beat Japan. (and believe that Denmark is much stronger than Japan and Cameroon, and will not lose both)
Denmark beat Portugal in Qualification. They ended up above Portugal, Sweden and Hungary. There is a lot to say about it being the merit of Denmark that Holland didn't have space to shine..
Furthermore, as Kuyt pointed out.. we apparantly play a very tiring game for the opposition. According to him they always score later in the game because the opposition is just that tired. I don't know if that is true, and I know I'm sweet talking my national team here, but hey, you gotta have faith! -

We drew you won. both were unispired performances in my opinion. It depends if who we get in the next round of course but i stick by my opinion that we are both good enough to get into the last 8 but no further.
I look forwards to being proved wrong -

Portugal and Ivory Coast both did well from what I saw. Ivory Coast had some good chances towards the end there. Can't wait to see how Brazil does against North Korea, though. -

I serious can't wait for Brazil vs North Korea. This match is gonna be interesting.
Korea is the underdog fur sure, but who knows how good they are, it's a communist country and maybe they train a lot for this?
@ Roomie, trust me, the Netherlands is better than the UK. look at your keeper for an instance ... -

I'm REALLY disappointed by mostly all of the "favorites".
Only Germany and, partially, Argentina really did live up to their reputation.
And I think that North Korea will show us one of the most defensive lineups of the whole worldcup. -

Never once said you weren't. But i still dont think you will make it to the top 4.
If finish top (which you will). you will likely play paraguay and then Brazil... I just dont think you can beat them.
if the same happens to us we will have Ghana and then Argentina.. and i dont think we can beat them.
hence we will both reach the last 8.. nothing what so ever to do with weather you are better than us
Portugal - Ivory Coast was dissapointing considering how attacking both teams usually are. IC stifled Portugal in the first half pretty well and there were very few clear cut chances throughout -

Well sorry to tell the Dutch guys this but even though the Dutch team is much nicer to watch and might be a slight bit better than the English team, before the England-USA game on the international soccer forums there were so many people who predicted England to win it all. Didn't see more than a few who predicted the Netherlands to win it. So I don't really see how you can say people predict Holland to at least get into the last 4 but then again England wouldn't. Also the fifa ranking doesn't say anything...it's just ridiculous. It's commonly known that Ivory Coast for example is pretty much the world class African team and still they're 27th. They were better than Portugal today and still Portugal is 3rd. They even got more points than the other nations who qualified for the World Cup without problems because they went through the knock out matches where they beat Bosnia. Still they're 3rd in the ranking...wtf? With Croatia, Russia, and Egypt there are three teams in the top 12 without even being at the World Cup. Arguably they're very good but the ranking is just wrong for at least Croatia and Egypt. Number 6 of the ranking Germany could've won like 10-1 vs number 20 Australia while number 83 South Africa nearly beat number 17 Mexico. Last example if you wanna go by the fifa rankings guys, then Holland should've played better as number 4 vs number 36 Denmark.
So really all I wanna say guys is that the ranking doesn't say anything besides for Spain and Brazil and that I find it weird how you guys say Holland is soo much bettr than England. I gotta say I don't really like the English team either but look at their squad: A. Cole, Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard, Terry(, Ferdinand if he wasn't injured)= Dutch stars. I'm 100% sure if they were to play each other it'd be a close
game. -

The Netherlands doesn't get worse than yesterday... Top 4 is realistic; not saying it is easy though.
